Just curious......but :
When I click on banner ads at the top of forum and message pages, I am taken to the front page of BF.
I would have expected that I would go to an advertiser's webpage or, at least, to a source of further information on the product.
Is this a glitch in my setup or is it intended to be this way ?
Thanks

Well, that's weird, I'll check on that.

What browser are you using?

Am using Neoplanet...it is an add-on to MSIE 5.0.
It CAN be a little quirky but I love the dozens of skins and the ability to change the appearance at will.
Shouldn't cause a lot of problems as it uses MSIE's backend (whatever that means <g>)

Just tried it with Neoplanet turned off (MSIE 5.0) with the same result.
Tell me : is it supposed to take me to a dealer's website ?

Along the same lines -
1 - I get sent to the front page when I click the BF Store banner.
2 - I get 'Can't display page' errors for the 911 Direct and Rekat banners.
Also same with the Emerson banner.
Using IE5.

Same thing happens to me, all banners take me to the front page, leaving me perplexed and confused. I'm using Netscape's latest and greatest.

All banners should take you to the appropriate site, period, not to the Front page of the forums.

They should also open up a new browser window for every banner.

I just checked the HTML Code and it's exactly as it's supposed to be, exactly

If you experience an error with a banner,
I need to know your browser,
version,
whether or not you have Javascript on or off,
and whether you have cookies on or off,
what other errors you experience with the site,
AND WHETHER YOU ENTER FROM THE FRONT PAGE, OR HAVE BOOKMARKED THE FORUMS THEMSELVES.

If you've bookmarked the forums, you may be experiencing cookie corruption, which could be why the banner isn't working right for youl.

Huugghh…huugghh...not me…I wouldn't do that. Bookmark? What's a bookmark?

Just tried it with the banner at the top of this page........worked fine. Looks like it may be intermittent.
I habitually enter through the front page which is bookmarked. Cookies and Java are on.

yep.......it IS intermittent. A new window opens each time but 2 out of 3 attempts leads to the front page.

I always come in thru the front page, no bookmarks - you admonished that months age. Using IE5 or Netscape 4.6; java on, activeX on in IE, scripting on, cookies on. And everything works well! Everything opens in new browser window. Except, 911Direct still can't find the page, and REKAT still can't find the page. Of course, this could be a traffic problem.

Ok, it seems the www.rekat.com is broken right now, but www.roundeye.com is still working, don't know what's wrong with that, but I'll check it out.

Checking on 911Direct.

OK Spark, I'm using the latest issue of Netscape offered by my network, my cookies are on, just to get that out of the way.

I just entered by the front page, deleted all my cookies, using the preference page, reentered the front page, and none of the banner ads work, I still go to the front-page when I click.

Ok, we did checking on our end and it appears that NetworkSolutions has dumped several domain names all of a sudden, including, suprise suprise, REKAT.com, 911Direct, Emerson-Knives and a few others.

You all have my apologies for this, as this is beyond what is to be expected, and an extremely unusual set of circumstances.

We're working on it, and will get back with any developements.

I have been cruising the forums and, on the way, I have been checking the banners. In every case the banner linked back to the front page.
Checking banner properties, they all showed the url : http://www.bladeforums.com/cgibin/getimage.cgi/2574115?GROUP=forums_group

Some of the banners I looked at were: Art Knife Com, Bayou Lafourche, Tactical Holsters, American Knife Depot and Blade Forums Auctions.
I used MSIE 5.0 and everything is turned on.

Hope this helps......I hate mysteries.
