I noticed, been checking in @ BP regularly, that they are back: 110 CPM 154, coated blade, Rosewood scales and sheath. So, since I needed a watchcap and a jacket, yes I did (it is winter, hair thinning and old warmup is acquiring holes) I ordered the folder as well (jumped into my basket on its own kinda). :D

I wonder how long Buck can/will make these available since I don't hardly ever see Buck 110s with CPM 154 blade steel... Is there a bright future for CPM 154 or has it seen its hay day?

I thought they were being phased out. last I checked the website they were gone. Glad to hear they are back. I know I want to hold onto mine. I too would like to hear about the fate of CPM-154, it is a terrific Blade steel.

Man-o-man is it hard to tell the future of knives with boutique steels given the current financial situation, everyone's including Crucible's.

However, per my call to BP a minute ago there are fewer than 12 units in their inventory this morning. This may be the last gasp...

Update: Cool. I received the expedited FedEx shipping, which expires today in a bit, even though I had not seen it on my order anywhere. It just might get here this week, ho ho ho.

ho ho hope so oregon:thumbup:

LOL. :D

I've received emailed shipping confirmation for all three items, knife, coat and hat (and a $10 gift cert. that I don't know how I earned/received). Where is that FedEx truck? Busy time of year for delivery folk. Ahhh, great fun procrastinating as the 11th hour Santa.

My neck of the woods, a day off so I walked down by the swiftly moving Tualatin River, this gloomy morning:

Great choice! Mine has been my EDC for over a year.

Thank you kindly for the encouragement and the fact that you carry yours means alot to me.

You get an action shot for that, you lucky fella you, of Screech Owl rubbing a sleepy eye with part of its wing early this chilly morning:

I was wondering where all our geese went. ;)

No problem. You'll get most of them back later.

I was only back about 40 feet from the edge of the flock and, though big as a house, quiet as a mouse. Dozens landed in front of me while I watched with delight and the ground flock grew noisily. I can't be certain but I'm pretty sure their voices were either saying "I can't feel my feet" or "its about time we stopped to eat" or some other complaint as their long chilly flight came to an end.

They only flew up when two avian predators, couldn't ID them, flew over about 60 feet off the ground.

Gee, Oregon you get to see some good stuff ! Thanks for the photos . I like my BP 110 as well . How much better edge retention does it have over the 154-cm steel ? DM

It is an absolute riot of good stuff to look at around this neck of the woods. Really. Gotta love those wetlands and the great flyway. Can't wait until spring.

CPM-154: With such a question DM you are going to bring the steel aficianados out of their lairs. Brace yourself and wait for it. Like the edge retention of ZDP-189 some users might never have to sharpen their knives. Most users, well, less often.

You thinks that Buck will one day have a ceramic blade? It would be interesting to see a blade exchanger, with ceramic blades so no sharpening would never need to be done, from Buck.

No I don't think Buck will offer a ceramic blade some day as they are too brittle . Which was sort of a problem with the Buck Cote blades . DM

Thank you for your kind words Alberta Ed. It is my pleasure.

I looked up my shipping info, via FedEx number, and it told me that the goods were in town last night, all the way from the Mid-West in 24hrs! Could be delivered today. Yup. Maybe.

The BP site now shows "low stock" for the knife.

Sidebar: Bot an owl-call (actually, it is supposed to motivate a turkey to give away its position). If I can learn to use it properly I might be able to do a Barred and a Great Horned Owl call. Maybe. Its a plastic pipe with a few holes.
