Presenting the revived BK&T Campanion, made in the USA by Camillus Cutlery Company. Blade is of 017-6C tool steel (black coated to resist corrosion), handle scales are molded out of GV6H. For more info on the specs of the Campanion, refer to this thread by Will Fennell, Camillus' Product Manager: http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum19/HTML/000288.html

Here are a couple of pics of the new Campanion

This is a comfortable knife. The molded GV6H scales are contoured and rounded to fit your hand very well. though I have yet to use this one, the handles seem like the user's grip will remain comfortable even during hard use such as chopping. The knife is a bit blade heavy, which gives the Campanion good chopping abilities in light of its small size.

The Campanion nestled in its Kydex carry rig, which is fabricated by Scott Evans and crew at Edge Works. The sheath locks around the finger guard area of the handle and has an additional webbing strap that holds the top part of the handle in place. The carry rig is unique in the sense that it is molded in such a way that allows the Campanion to be carried and accessed easily from the left or right side, which ever you prefer. This is something that is not found on all Kydex sheaths! Kudos to Camillus and Edge Works for going the extra mile to do this. Having seen the Campanion, I'm looking forward to seeing the other Becker knives!

Dex,

Hey! Not fair! How come you get to play with all the new toys first??? Here I am thinking I'll be the first one on my block to have one, and you've done a review before I've even gotten mine!!!

That sheath does have potential. Perhaps it is only from the photos but the one from above seems to show the Companion with a bit more belly at its widest point. The current Camillus catalog shows the blade edge and its spine to be parallel til its sweep to the tip. Are they all not cut to the same measurements/ tolerances as opposed to handmades? Dex, does that handle have a nice texture for secure gripping or is it smooth as it appears in the pic?

Nakano - the handle does have a little texture but it is for the most part relatively smooth. Nice finish job on the scales.

News Flash!
The BK&T CAMPANIONS have left the Building! We have begun shipping the CAMAPNIONS, several hundred left over Saturday, and yesterday. We will be shipping more today.
Next on the launch pad will be the TACTOOL. I am heading to our Kydex vendor on this project, EDGEWORKS, tomorrow to inspect and approve the first production samples of the TACTOOL sheath. If all goes well, we will have the TACTOOL sheaths in hand by the first of next week, and be shipping them the day we get them. Probally within a week or so of THAT release, we should be doing the same with the BRUTE.

Remember, MAGNUM CAMP and MACHAX aren't due to be introduce until BLADESHOW.

Thought ya'll might want to know.....
