Well I may not need one, but I really want one - I have that itch again! I've lost touch with the latest and greatest - I do have some nice folders - Sebenza, KFF (damascus), Krait, and a few others.

What maker, folder, and blade material (talonite?) would you recommend? It can be dressed up or beautifully black :-). Thanks!

Warm regards

akula

P.S. I like folders with secure grips like the KFF and AFCK. A sharp out of the box blade doesn't hurt either!

Now this seems like a better place than W&C to be asking this question. I think either a Kit Carson M16 or M4 in whatever blade material you like or a Tom Mayo TNT (talonite of course) would make a great choice. Both these makers do top quality work. The TNT has titanium handles and I have never heard of any grip problems with these knives.

I'll second the TnT. I _love_ my Boguszewski Cobra, but I'm very hesitant to actually use it. My TnT was similar $$$ but it just BEGS to be used. I can't explain it, but I have no problem breaking out the TnT for anything.

If a secure handle is what you seek, check out a Darrel Ralph EDC. Very comfy and if this one slips out of your hand your doing something wrong ;) He can dress up one of his Ti IBL's with vivid anodizing and even some gold "nuggetizing" for a really eye catching look. He also pulls off the basic black look better than just about anyone out there and his carbon fiber work is exceptional. Blade steel? Darrel's 420V performs very well and I have heard nothing but good things regarding his use of modified D2. I recently received an EDC featuring forged 52100 (with the coolest double temper line) that looks promising as well. He has also been known to use Talonite. Choosing the right knife is easy, choosing how you want that knife configured is the tough part

Brad Duncan has really impressed me with his recent work. I have a Duncan folder, an older design which I am very happy with. When I can get the cash, I'm gonna order one of his newer folders with the whiplash pivot system.

Here's a link to Brad's Site which has some great pictures of his work

Of course there are always the folders from the veterans who make some tactical classics: Kit Carson Model 4 & 16, Darrel Ralph EDC & Apogee, Greg Lightfoot Magnum 456, Allen Elishewitz bolster-lock Persian.
