Here´s a pic of a beltgrinder a mechanic at work helped me with. It´s has a 1hp motor and runs very well.Tested it yesterday. Finally I can make my own blades !! I guess the picture tells everything.

Excellent design Adler! Simple but efficient. This is the best design I've seen, it even beats the ungrinder.

Take care!! Michael

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

Thanks for the comment! I wanted to keep it as simple as possible and the first thing I wanted to "get rid of" was a third wheel with a tracking device. Here the tracking knob is easily reached at the right of the contactwheel(forgot to mention the size,300 mm/11.8" dia). Will now make some minor changes with the toolrest , and later on I hope to be able to make an attachment so I can flatgrind.

Wow, nice looking grinder.

When you make that flat grinding attachment, you may as well come up with a small wheel attachment too!

I like the 3M belt on there, nice touch

Good luck grinding!

Hey, Adler, nice grinder! Had a chance to use it yet? Please post a pic when you finish the next knife.

Very nice. Where did you get the monster contact wheel?

Windancer: I haven´t had much time testing it yet.It runs very smoothly and I believe it will turn out very good. I also have to practice more because my grindlines look very crappy now. Have only tried another grinder one time before.I´ll post pics later when I get some better results.

Mike Conner: I bought the wheel from a guy in Sweden who builds grinders. He imports wheels from a German manufacturer.Don´t know the name of the German company yet.
