I have an old Benchmade model 831 that rarely sees pockettime. I really like the blade shape and to tell you the truth like the 440c blade, but do not like the handle. Can you make a handle im micarta or g10 for this piece?
 
Maybe so. It will help me a lot to see the folder since I have no idea what it looks like. Chances are fair that I have seen it a time or two for something but I am terrible at identifying the BenchMade line from the number ID. Pics are a great help. Flat bed scanners work great for this if you have one.

I don't have a scanner, but could take some pictures tomorrow and post them.

Looks like I'd have to build a new lock spring holder/rear stand off for it like I do on Spyderco and others so other than this I see no real problem to that.

Do you like the shape of the handle and just not the material or did you want a redesign too? Just curious. I can probably come up with something new for shape but it would take some experimenting and planning to map that out which could be a bit more turn around time but yeah, it looks doable. Thanks for the pics.

Oh I am open for a redesign. I never used this knife much because it didn't open that smoothly and I didn't like the handle design or material. The blade is quite thin for a large blade, and I like the grind. Another thing I don't like is the thumb stud. I would like something with better grip
