Finally managed to get myself a BM42 (anodised) the other day, and I'm well pleased. Actualy thrilled!
... Been practicing ever since.
However, I found it a touch aukward to carry the BM42 so high up on my belt - with the conventional pouch that came with the balisong. I tried numerous possibilities but none seemed too pleasing to me. I know that there are some good Kydex options, but thought I'd try and come up with an alternative in the meantime. Here's what I did:
On the back of the BM pouch there are 3 nylon straps - two for horizontal carry (HC) and one for vertical carry (VC). On the upper HC nylon strip (the one nearest the pouch opening) I glued a piece of velcro (the smooth fabric portion, not the hard nylon hooks portion) over it. Once it was dry I then folded the pouch flap back over and under, so that the flaps nylon hooks now get attatched to the back of the pouch. This leaves a very nice opening to run a belt through, thereby lowering the pouch on the belt and leaving the balisong with about an inch poking out of the top (uncovered).
I tried it out today and I think it works quite well.
Thought I'd share this with everyone, just in case anyone had found a similar 'annoyance' and were looking for a simple solution.
