Recommendation? Benchmade Mini-Axis clip impedes 1-handed use

I recently bought a Benchmade Mini-AXIS Stryker 904 and I love it with one exception. The clip, although tight as a tick, catches on the thick jean cloth every time I try to clip it into my pocket. As an example of this hindrance, yesterday I am bundling up wood branches and cutting twine. I could grab the knife, open it with one hand cut the twine, close it...but could not clip it back in my pocket with one hand. Not wanting to drop the bundle of branches I dropped the knife on the ground.

I've thought about trying to bend the clip outward, but am wasn't sure if that was a good idea.

Does anybody have any tips on adjusting this so I can clip it in my pocket with one hand?

Bending the clip should work. BM has great CS and will send you clips at no charge...A different style clip may be an option as well..

The loopover clips tend to have a lot more tension than the standard or the split arrow. You might try one of those.

You can also bend the clip out a bit with no worry. If you screw it up Benchmade will send you another.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up bending the clip outward a bit. It works better now.

But due to it being in the way when I am holding it, I am considering removing it altogether.

BM offers up to 9 replacement pocket clips per year for its customers upon request.

BM available selection of clips has also gone up a few. Make sure the model number is provided and fits.

The original clips were crazy tight, could never get it clipped. Military spec tight haha

I often do one of those two things on about any knife I have depending on the knife.
One bit of advice : it is best to remove the clip, bend it, and put it back on even if you have to adjust it repeatedly. At least once I nearly pulled the screws out of the side of a high quality, highly regarded knife.
Two exceptions, well maybe three, (these had perfect clip function out of the box) :
Spyderco Military
Spyderco Dragonfly (wire clip)
Cold Steel Holdout III (has the long clip)

Another option, especially after removing the clip permanently is to put it in a belt pouch which is the way I carry my two Cold Steel Ti Lite IV knives. Love the knife (modified blade) but HATE the clip.

With a belt pouch you can store and retrieve the knife fairly easily while working. Some don't even have a flap just a snug fit into an open "pocket".
