Just saw this knife browsing around online. Wondering what you guys think of it. Good tough knife? Grip? I ask cause looks like your hand would slip stabbing into something. Nice quality shealth?

Side note...I got to see my first benchmade. An older model, a big emerson tanto folder a friend of mine has. Though it needs a thorough cleaning and missing a screw. But what a hefty knife for the condtion its in, still a functional blade. Caught my eye, it did.

also got to see my first spyderco. Also from a friend of mine..what a nasty edge it had on that..light weight too. Called it the police model.

funny all both knives I saw, and said "hey that looks like....." sure enough it was.

do a search for 'outbounder'

I used to have a BM Emerson 970ST with the Ti blade. Cool gadget factor, but lousy cutting edge.

Angelus1781,

I really like my Outbounder, great grip, no hand sliping problem. It also has a very nice balance with tapered tang, something almost all the factory knives have eliminated for cost.

I have the special edition with Oak wood scales and D2 steel blade, liked it so much I purchased a second knife for backup.

Regards,
FK

They're a very nice little knife. I like to carry a small FB, and these are good ones. Also, they don't seem to scare the sheeple.

Hi...

"Nice quality shealth?"

:):)

The Outbounder is a pretty decent knife...I don't carry it as often as I should I guess,, but a decent blade no doubt...

I got a real deal on an Outbounder a couple of years ago, so I didn't mind playing with it a little.

The handles felt a little cheap. I was told that Rosewood (?) is not a very good wood to use for scales.
I hated the sheath. Ill-fitted, basic, 2 pieces of leather stitched together. I was extremely disappointed in the sheath.

As I said, I got a deal, & I love Benchmade knives, so I bought it anyway. But I needed to fix the problems.

So, I sent my Outbounder to Newt Livesay, who made 2 great Kydex sheaths for it: One an SOB-type, the other a conventional belt-slide type vertical carry.

But, the best thing he did was replace the handles with some white Micarta. Newt told me it was manufactured in the 50's by G.E. HARD to find. The Micarta is beautiful.

It Completely changed the look of the knife. Newt did a fantastic job
with it. I have pictures somewhere if I can find them, if anyone would like to see, drop me an email: mlbrock@juno.com
