Benchmade Rift

Depends on the steel the blade is made out of really as to whether I'd bead blast it or not. Not sure I know what a "Rift" is Theo. May need a little help there. Got a pic? Post it if so. I believe you know the routine to get a folder to me. My new form is in the low rider clip thread post two. Nice and easy PDF format now.

Things have been well I guess. Had a nasty accident in the shop with my old grinder when a nice new 100 grit ceramic belt came off and cut me hand in the meaty part of my palm by my thumb. Left a big flap of ripped skin hanging and it was a chunk too let me tell ya and that had to be taken care of right quick so that took priority from all other things. Good thing I'm not light headed over such things though.

Its a bit hard to go from the KMG back to that old Kalamazoo grinder on many levels but one is remembering the difficulty centering the belts when putting on a new one. Haven't been using that grinder much since getting the KMG and decided to do so since I have all these new 2x48" belts for the thing that are just sittting there. Well, turns out that is something I'm regretting a bit. Damn thing buggered up my hand right quick! Slowed me down a bit both in typing and posting and working too for a bit since I lost my ability to grip for a few days. Otherwise I'm ok. Its getting better now and I can at least type but if I grip too much it will start oozing again. I have to watch for the time being. Still not 100% but closer today and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now.

Thanks for asking

Well, Mr. Osborne is coming out with some super designs isn't he?

Ernie Emerson bead blasted his 154CM for a long time with few complaints. Others have as well so the blade would blast fine I'm sure. May need an edge touch up for sure on that part since its likely to dull down some from the blasting.

Low rider is for sure possible. I've done many on that same style clip replacement. I'll try to come up with as close to the same thing as last time but as you know I do each one at a time by hand. Sometimes even back to back they turn out unique but I will try to remember to print out a pic of that one you liked to carry out to my shop with me when I do it. That should help me some.

Warranty will be voided of course to do the blade blasting since I'll likely have to remove it from the handle to do that. Your call there. If you have a combo edge model it may be hard for me to get that as sharp as when new. Those give me some trouble at times just to warn you.

That will be fine as soon as it gets back from you I'm probably gonna send it to tom. Thanks how much will I owe you?

Low riders are all the same price. Its in there with the form to print. I'll bead blast and resharpen the blade for you for $10 since I have to take it apart to get it out and that may take me longer than the other knowing the way some of the BenchMades have been for being locked up tight. I may have to heat up the pivot with a wood burner to get it apart unless you've already been into it.
