Hello,

I have just purchased a Benchmark Knife fixed blade knife. It is about 8 1/2 inches overall lenght, with a 4 inch blade, serrations on the upper 3rd of the spine. It has a brass guard and really nice contoured dark green micarta fabric type scales. The knife is stamped Benchmark Knives on one side and 591 on the other side. It is brass pinned in two spots on the handle with a brass lined thong hole.

I can find only minimal information on Benchmark knives.

If anyone can help with any information on this knife, it would be greatly appreciated!

I can send a picture.

Thanks,

TD

Judging by the contoured green micarta handle, I'm tempted to say you have a Argonaut. But the Argonaut came with serration on more than 2/3 of it's spine. With the front third, from the tip of the blade, left plain.

Is the blade profile more of a drop point? With a secondary swedge on the upper third of the blade width?

Tony,

It could very well be less than 1/3 of the blade at the tip is plain drop point. The serrations and contour of the blade itself are on one side of the blade and the other side of the blade is kind of flat. The linen micarta scales are very dark with that greenish coloration.

Any idea of the age or country of origin of this knife if it is an argonaut?

Thanks,

TD

:)
