Bent all over.

I just bought this Victorinox Champ on Ebay and the small blade is really quite badly bent. Hopefully the photos show it, even if it's not 100% clear.

It's almost like an S curve and is inclined too.
My problem is I'm not sure how to go about bending it back to..I guess straight-er; doubt I can get it back to true.
I'd rather not break it in my efforts so any suggestions would be most welcome.

I'm thinking of replacing the scales at some point too, although I like the colour(and I've not seen a SAK like it before), they're a bit chipped and have some guy's name on-looks like originally cast with the scales...any ideas about why that might be? I don't want to break them off if it has some historical value as is.

Incidentally even with it's flaws I'm still pretty happy 'cos it was very cheap:)

Do you have a vise? Pad the jaws with anything handy -- leather, rubber, cardboard, cloth. Straighten the bend near the tip first, then the other one. It helps a lot to hold it to a straightedge with the light on the other side.... You should be able to make it perfectly straight or as near as never-mind, but it'll take some fiddling. If you don't have a vise pad the jaws of a pair of pliers. Bend a tiny bit at a time and take it out and check with the straightedge and then bend some more. It shouldn't break unless you keep bending it 'way too far and bending it back 'way too far again.

Thanks.
Where would you recommend holding it to bend it back? I'm a little concerned about the strength of the pivot area as I know it's not too large on a SAK and I certainly don't want to end up prying the layers apart at all either.

I'm probably worrying over nothing, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Good point! You don't need a lot of leverage to bent it; it's thin and relatively soft steel. You might have to use padded pliers and a padded vise (or two pair of pliers) but I think you can do it by putting it in a vise and grasping the blade with your hand. Just take care not to cut yourself. You can wrap or tape the blade....
