I have an older Queen #11 single-blade slip joint w/winterbottom bone scales. This knife has been somewhat abused (not by me) and I've got everything fixed up except the bent blade. My question is, I need advice on straightening this blade out. I don't want to break it trying (done that before) as I really like this knife and plan on carrying it.

thanks

Jason

Very carefully bend it back. As you are bending it, make sure you are stressing it in the exact same spot that it is bent. Be gentle, and only increase pressure if necessary. You will have to bend in the opposite direction, but to a greater degree than the original bend.

Wow. Good luck on that. I have never been able to get metal to bend in the same spot twice, lol.

Please let us know how you do it successfully. Looks like a very interesting knife from those pics. I hope you get it straightened out.

You have to force it to bend in the same spot by restricting its movement. Use a vise, padded pliers, gentle hammer taps, etc. It's not easy, but it can be done.

Here is a crappy pic of the same knife. I think of this as one of my "rescued" knives....the original owner had no clue how to sharpen or otherwise take care of a knife.
