Benchmade 555 Mini Griptilian, blade hole, part serrated, Axis lock, 440C. Right around sixty bucks. Best value around, in my opinion.

Nobody beats Spyderco in price/performance!
Check out Native and Native III. First one made from best steel for today CPM S30V and made in US, but you have to work out how to deal with handle - I did, but was a bit confused at the begining. Native III have another best steel VG-10 and made in Japan - everibody happy with handle.
Personaly I do not get why so many people crazy about Endura and Delica - but they are in fact very popular. I just have to respect their choose.
Search yahoo shopping - you'll find a lot of them less then 50.

My best choose so far - Kershav Avalanche I bought it for 65, but now it is over 79.

Thanks, Vassili.

Whatever configuration best suits you of the Benchmade Griptilian would be perfect. Almost any good Spyderco knife will fit this bill also, I also like my Camillus CUDA EDC and they are under $40. There are so many knives to choose from in the price range you are talking you will have a field day just looking and shopping. Go look around and when you find something you or he likes come back and ask about it you'll find out right quick if it's a good knife or not around here. Enjoy.

I own several tactical folders that retail for over $100, and yet my Camillus EDC is my EDC for nearly any situation. It's light, comfortable, has a great lock, takes and holds a nice edge, has an excellent clip design, and is small enough to be legal nearly anywhere. At it's price point and even above, it is unbeatable to me. My only upgrade consideration is a custom or a Sebenza, nothing in between will beat this knife for me. YMMV of course, and the other suggestions made here are great knives as well. I just happen to despise FRN as a handle material, so the EDC is what goes in my pocket. Good luck with whatever you choose.

cheap, tough, shaving sharp...for easy insertion in soft materials go with the clip point...for tougher stuff do the tanto thing in full serr;)

there are a ton of great knives in this price range, so basically it comes down to aesthetics and comfort. In the 3" blade category the benchmade mini-griptillian, camillus EDC (in 154CM) and spyderco delica all leap to mind from personal experience. Search the internet stores with your friend, or better yet find a brick & moprtar store so s/he can hold and compare various models. A fun thing about the mini-grip is that it comes in so many handle colors, if you are bored with basic black.

All of the above plus Spyderco Endura and Delica. Wally has the Kershaw Vapors at $20 and $25 respectively, a great bargin. Wally also has the assisted opening Kershaws in your locale which are very nice. I have the 3.25" Whirlwind which is nice, about $45.

I love the BM 705. It is closed to $100,but you can find it used on the forums for about $75 (I kniw, you said $60) . Josh

While you are at Wally's look at the Buck 110 also. For $60 you could actually buy 2 real good knives.;)

I would pick either the Spyderco Delica or go for the mini Griptilian. I have had both models and they are both hard to beat.

I too would suggest the mini Griptilian or the Spyderco Native. The Delica is also a great knife and I used to carry one all the time, but my wife picked up a Native and for the extra money it's well worth it. Niver blade steel and I like the blade profile better as well.

Another nice inexpensive knife is the A.G. Russell zytel One hand Knife. It is clipless and ultra slim and light. It runs $34.95 in AUS-8 and $49.95 in ATS-34. An even better deal is the Kabar/Dozier Folding Hunter, A.G. Russell has these for $19.95 plus shipping. THe Kabar is a great full sized folder with a spearpoint, hollow ground, AUS-8 blade and a lockback.

Here's another vote for the Spydie Endura or Delica. You can't beat Spyderco's fit/finish, materials, ergonomics and warranty in that price range.

I think you are going to hear a lot of votes for the the Mini Griptilian and the Delica.

Both are great but feel very different so you will have to handle them and decide.

The Spyderco Delica is my choice for EDC. A couple of months ago I bought several of these knives from www.knifesite.com to give as birthday gifts this year. I got one for myself as well.

One of my good friends was using his small Sebenza for EDC but is now carrying the Delica I got him. It's lighter, has VG-10 steel and is a lot cheaper so he abuses it and loves it!

EDC should be just that, a knife that you carry everyday and not think twice about what you are going to cut with it. I'd hate to loose a Sebenza but the Delica is only $34.99 from knifesite.com

My recommendation is the Spyderco Delica.

Cheers,
