Best knife for around $50?

I am in need of a knife that is good quality but not over about $50-$60 bucks. It will be an EDC so I will use it only for normal cutting tasks, not anything major. I'm getting this knife at this price point because I don't want to be afraid of loosing it. I'm thinking about getting a Camillus EDC or a Spyderco Delica. If anyone has any other ideas lets hear them. I know that I don't want a BM Griptilian or the smaller version. Thanks. :)

I don't have experience with the Camillus EDC, but I do with the Spyderco Delica. It's a great little knife.

There are lots of good choices in this price range, but what is best for you is largely dependent upon what you will be doing with it.

You might want to take a look at the Cold Steel Voyager. It's a tough beater knife with a secure grip and a good lock.

You already have it pegged... the Camillus EDC and the Spydie are the best inexpensive knives I have owned. CRKT is good, too. Get an EDC at WOW.inc.com... I got mine for 34.99 plus shipping there, and I like it.

Take a look at the Spyderco Native Lightweight. For just under $50 you get a lot of knife, including a blade in 440V.

Oh, and you should probably consider the Camillus Enhanced EDC and Spyderco Delica too. :D

get a CRKT large or small crawford/ kasper folder, i have seen them for about $40 on the net(the pro models are a little higher, have aluminum handles, better steel i think in blade), a LOT of knife for the $$ imho, and ya cant ever go wrong w/a spydie, the kasper is a little more 'tactical' i think, depends on what ya want it for i guess.....

Thanks for all the speedy replies. I forgot to say that it has to be left hand friendly :D. I only use my knives most of the time to do small everyday things like open the mail and cut open packages. I may use them every now and then a little hard but not much. Also I've just recently gotten into fishing and I mainly want a small knife to take with me fishing that I won't be to heart broken if it gets lost. I'm kind of goofy and I may drop it in :o. I've thought about the talonite EDC but I just don't see spending the extra money when I know the 154CM will do me just fine.

I'm sure you don't have to worry too much about CRKT or spyderco on lefty uses. I"m not familiar with Camillus EDC but I'd expect it to be lefty friendly too.

If you want a lefty knife then you probably don't want a liner/frame lock (CRKT/EDC) unless it is lefty specific, and I don't think either the Kasper or EDC are made lefty. You'd probably want to go with a lockback (Spydie), or an axis lock--something like a griptilian (probably a little more than $50). Just make sure that the pocket clip can be moved to the opposite side.

I have the Spyderco Native and the Camillus EDC in 154cm. I like the EDC a little better, BUT if you want the knife to be left hand friendly get the Native. The clip is reversable and the lock is more of an ambi design. The EDC clip does not change and it is a frame lock, which seems more right hander friendly that not.

Spyderco Calypso Jr. lightweight
Camillus EDC-154CM
For a small fixed blade, The NRGS-Ex by Newt Livesay is very good. Newt will make you a left-handed horizontal belt sheath, like mine, if you ask for one.

Another possibilty: The new CRKT Pat Crawford Falcon or mini-Falcon. These are excellent repros of the "real deal".

Spyderco Endura with VG-10 blade. Changeable pocket clip for lefties.

It is a lot of knife for $50, and it it light in the pocket.

If you can still find one, I would pick up a plain edge Spyderco Calypso Jr. Ltwt. I have a number of other more expensive folders, but this is the one I carry every single day. The VG-10 holds an incredible edge, the knife weighs next to nothing, is really slim in the pocket, and the blade length is short enough never to get you in trouble, but has always been long enough to do EDC chores.

native, endura, delica, and calypso jr, all excellent quality lockbacks with reversable clips. Other than my lefty large sebenza it doesn't get much more lefty friendly than that.

How about a Spyderco Endura, Native or Delica?

The Camillus EDC would be a good choice if you like smaller knives.

Some of the CRKT knives would be a good choice as well.
