A few days ago I purchased a military, which I love, but recently I learned that I cant carry a knife with a blade over 3 inches. (and they say size doesnt matter) Needless to say I'm happy for another exscuse to buy a Spyderco. Can anyone suggest a knife with a blade less than 3 inches but still feels and handles well. I was looking at the Wegner Jr. Any opinions?

Thanks
Ian

Check out the Calypso lightweight, it is superlight and sharp. It is also way cheaper than the Wegner Jr. The native and Delica are also good three inchers.

Another interesting small knife, which happens to share some of the Military's superb construction features, is the Centofante.

Stop when you get to bone.

Ian,
The Wegner Jr. is a very good knife. I have the large Wegner, my dad has the small one. He likes it very much, and says that it's a convenient size to carry on daily basis.

Another great Spyderco is the Bladeforums Native, it has 440V blade and blue G-10. I've never seen it but it seems like it'd be much nicer than the regular Native.

Just my opinion,
Mitch

If you like an even smaller knife, you might try the Mini Dyad. It is the most traditional appearinf of the Spydercos and offers a fully serrated and fully plain blade in a very small package.

i'll second the votes on the calypso, native and wenger jr. i don't have any experience with the centofante. i have a micarta calypso, a wenger jr., a native, and a BF native. i always carry the native, fits my hand like the proverbial glove. i have also carried the calypso quite a bit. the wenger is great, but it just didn't feel like the calypso or native and i'm not a huge fan of liner locks. i just got my BF native a few days ago. put it in my pocket, and have been playing with it ever since. it is a good bit pricier than the others, but it is incredible. they are all great choices, but if money is no problem, go for the BF native.

Go for the BF Native. You won't regret it.

I just picked up a Wegner Jr. from a member on the forums for the same reason you are looking for one. Thanks Lagerman. It is a heck of an efficient and effective knife for it's size. I like it so much I'm looking to pick up a fullsize one. I would definately recommend one (so would my wife who snagged mine) but if it is too expensive you can't beat a Delica for the price.

Count another vote for the Wegner Jr. The Delica II and Delica 98 are good choises too.

How thick is the steel used on the BF Native blade (1/8th or 3/16th)?

Sorry, I meant 5/32.(Like the Starmate)

I'm used to metric!

All fine knives, may I just add the Micael Walker Lt/wt. It's my everyday carry knife, I love the blade shape, and the liner lock.

Pegasus is also a very nice knife in a small package. The size of a Copilot, but fits better in your hand.

Tough question!

I can't say ONE, so I have to mention the Calypso Jr. LTWT, and the Wegner Jr. (discontinued). I carry the LTWT EVERYDAY, and I am squirreling away the Wegner Jr.

IMHO - TOO many nice small knives.....LOL.
