What is your vote for best new model in 2005? You can vote a runner up if you want as well. I don't have a compleat list so if anyone wants to post that for the others, feel free.

My vote goes to the Yojimbo. It is much more knife than I thought it would be. It is not perfect but it was my favorite of 2005.

1. UK Penknife. A significant update of the classic Calypso Jr. with perhaps the best handle I've ever seen on a folder. It's also the first slipjoint that feels secure despite the lack of a lock.

2. Burgundy Calypso Jr. with ZDP-189 blade. The first production folder I know of that has a blade in this steel; and I feel ZDP-189 is the first stainless steel that gets pretty close to good carbon steels. The very fine edge geometry combined with the full flat grind makes this the best cutting folder I've ever handled.

The one in my signiture line. And I mean that for the Burgundy one, not necessarily my upgrade. I'm just referring to the CJ with the ZDP189 blade. Best knife of the year hands down.

My vote goes for one that just made it out before year end - the CF Military. A Spyderco classic, updated with leading edge (no pun) blade steel and handle material.

zdp 189 caly definitely. A great design, a great steel, and a great price( I know thats a clause). What more do you want?

I am not just going along with everybody else just to do it, I love the Burgundy Calypso Jr. ZDP 189 so much that it is the only Spdyie that I have ever bought two of!
Simply a fantastic little "light saber" of a pocket knife!

To me it is a draw: The ZDP-189 Calypso Jr ( burgundy) and the OCELOT. Both of which are functionally beautiful as well as pleasing to the eyeballs

Manix: The most capable big folder I've ever handled.

DKPK (UKPK was released around christmas 2004): Such a boost that Spyderco took an interest in providing a knife expressly for another market than the US and did it so well. Other companies should take note that this is how to build a fiercely loyal ELU base. Who else would take a look at a market like Denmark and think "those people are getting a bad deal from the government. I'm going to do something about it" Thanks Sal.

The Manix has really done the business. I think that it is a masterclass in how to make an affordable knife which does everything you could wish for in a folder. An example to everyone!

I really love the CF Military and think that this Carbon Fibre finish is possibly the best handle material I've seen. Another outstanding piece :D
