Now . . .</p>

<font size="2">The reason he deleted his 1st SALE post was that he was misinforming again. The Nealy he was selling was @ 98% condition, not mint. I know, I traded it to him.
I will say this; it looks like OWL has been trading for less than 6 months. I remember back in 97' when all this knife forum business started. I too did not know what Mint meant. I thought it meant that the blade could still slice butter. Hence, I pi$$ed people off left and right. BUT, I ended up sending money back to the buyer or getting those people knives at wholesale prices to make up for my mess up.
OWL, you make no effort to make your wrongs right. This is the problem at hand, and now it's all of our problem.</font>

This discussion started on another forum; here's a link to that thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum7/HTML/003950.html

Ryan, both the links you posted lead to a blank page -- at least it looks blank on my system (running Netscape 4.61 on Win95).

As moderator (not arbitrator) I don't feel it would be appropriate for me to express any opinions I may have on matters of controversy -- let me just remind everybody to stick to the facts. It might help if after you write a post you get up and walk around a few minutes, maybe throw knives at a target or something, before you post it.

OK, I got a good deal from Owl last week. He has now stated that anyone unhappy should return items for refunds. Why dont you guys take him up on it if you're unhappy with the knives?
Now except for this one deal, I dont know Owl from Adam, but the guy in the "Go With Owl" thread who posted his full name was out of line,no?
And c'mon y'all it's Christmastime, lets stop all the threats. Besides, I can tell you from my former line of work that if someone was really gonna carry out a threat, it would be really dumb to post it on a public forum(can you say evidence?)

Happy holidays!

Lifter,

You seem to be confused.

No one posted OWL's name in the "Go with OWL" thread. Another thread in which OWL's name is mentioned is referenced in the "Go with OWL" thread.

I am curious as to how you reconcile your advice to cease threats with your statement in the "Go with OWL" thread:

any pencil neck ever posts my family name without permission gonna find out why they call me lifter (all 275 lbs) and that with a wife who's a flight attendant has access to the whole country.

The quoted statement appears to be a threat to travel anywhere in the country to hunt down and harm people with small necks who post your name. Perhaps I misunderstood?

I do applaud your peacemaking efforts, and wish you Happy Holidays too.

I am fairly new to BF, but MAN WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? Blame Blame Blame, then name-calling, then threats, then someone appears to be ostracized from the forum. First, irrespective of the situation the man offered to make it right by refunding the money. The question there is was the misrepresentation intentional? No one (but OWL) will ever know. But the bottom line is if you don't like what you got, get the refund and leave it at that.

Next, caveat emptor. How many can say that they have never been dissapointed by something they purchased on the internet. Ask for pictures, and hold the person to the item in the pictures. Maybe BF should require pics to avoid this very situation.

Last, what's up with the threats? That is just mean-spirited, and I believe I read threat and counter-threat, (innuendo possibly) so there is no high ground. If this is what BF is going to turn into Mike might as well shut it down.

Otherwise, I have greatly enjoyed the information and (non-hostile) banter here on BF. Thanks.

This transaction happened almost a month ago now. I brought it up only when I saw others being taken advantage of too. I asked him for a $65 Knife back that I traded him in the deal to make up for his oversight on the damaged MT. He now tells me that knife has been traded. I feel I was taken for $65 and that's what I would like to see in return. Am I asking for too much here? OWL make this right.

Could you clarify that, Ryan? Did Owl refuse to cancel the trade at the time, or did you decide to write it off at the time and then change your mind a month later?

I wrote it off after asking him and getting told by OWL that it was a mere oversight, nothing to cry about. This was all done right after getting the knife. I traded into the mini socom for $165 a NIB price, the knife was damaged and the logo faded. The head of the screw was not chipped but bent beyond repair, and when I sold it, I posted it as such. Hence I only was able to get $100 on my $165 investment. Hence I was douped for $65. I guess I could have pulled an OWL and told the next buyer it was NIB, but I try not to play that game.

*To Add: I asked him back for my Spyderco Viele at the time of trade, he refused. That Knife was traded to OWL at the same price that I was outed for.

at least this nobody can post a buy or sell transaction wthout being jumped all over with bad feed back

id rather be a nobody than a cheat

sorry hadnt been to the post in a while but i will definitely check back now that somebody wants to start some childish name calling

Howard, you are absolutely correct, it was the other thread that his full name was posted.
What I said in my post was what would happen if anyone put my family in jeopardy, there was no threat to any individual. I was making a point. And if you read the WHOLE post you would see that in the last paragraph I had edited the post as I saw I had come on a little strong. It was just that I know myself and if I had wanted to reach out to someone their last name and town is more than enough information and if some nutjob wanted to bother this guy's(Owl) family they now had the directions.
BTW Howard, pencil neck is a joking term we powerlifters use and if offended anyone, well, get big

I wasnt able to do it myself.

I think I have some input on this. Correct me if I'm wrong Ryan, but I believe I am now in posession of said knife. I can vouch for its described condition and the amount I paid for it, $100. The logo, compared to the other MT's I've owned, is significantly faded and the screw is bent as described. The flawed screw, while not glaring, presents itself with a basic close inspection. Taking it out of the case and examining the knife reveals this flaw.

I have tried to make this post as absolutely honest and non-inflammitory as possible. FYI, I've read all the various parts of this thread.

Hello all- It took me awhile to figure how this thing works but I think I have got it now. I was going to register myself instead of my husbands name but I don't really know how to do that nor do I have the time with company arriving shortly for the holidays.. But I thought just maybe since some of you don't respect each other you might respect a lady. My husband is sleeping right now and probably will be very upset with me after he sees this but frankly after reading all of this garbage, I don't care. I have been hearing and reading bits and pieces of this for days now. I told my husband that I believe in some instances he was wrong and very mistaken and next time needs to be more accurate. But after reading some of these posts, some of you men really need to read Emily Post's guide on manners. I cannot believe some of the stuff here and how sad to see that you men are worse than we women. Ryan, I read my husbands post and he said he would refund your money. Enough is enough already. He does not have the knife that you want back. Wake up and smell the coffee! It is gone and has been traded. You will get your $65 bucks or you will keep the knife that you have. Thats it. Make up your mind what you want and move on. As for you,G4, these names are hysterical- you did make a deragatory comment "saying that he would meet a guy like Bubba in prison who hadn't been with a woman in awhile and so on" so you got in return being called a "nobody". Well, sir, frankly you got what you gave. You all, including my husband should be ashamed of yourselves and are not without sin. Including you, Ken-who needs to also move on. Either return the knife for money or keep it and move on. This is disgusting. My husband is not a confrontational man. He did apologize and offered a refund. If that is not good enough for some of you, than so be it. Because if this were happening to me, which it wouldn't because I think that these kind of things are ridiculous, I would say to hell with you and move on. I am a God-fearing woman, but I will tell you I have read a few idle threats with all involved here, but if anyone should ever and I mean ever come near my family or my husband for any reason and especially this-I would not hesitate to defend myself or my family. And let me tell you, I would be worse to deal with than OWL. Hilarious, I love these names. I don't know where he got Owl or where you all get your weird names, but my husband does have big beautiful eyes. Now, you can all sit there, and ponder and say was that Owl, or hoo-hoo he needs his wife to defend him or whatever. I frankly don't give a rats a-- what you say nor if my husband ever deals on this forum again. As I think it is somewhat foul, degrading and extremely time consuming when we have things in this house that need to be fixed. He is human and made mistakes but so have all of us and I love him because he is not perfect. So move on guys!!!! And enjoy the holidays! They go very fast and before you know it you don't have any time left with your loved ones. Have a Merry Christmas and a Safe New Year!

Not the wifey, anything but the wifey. I give up!!! Merry Christmas, some things are not worth fighting for. God Bless.
Ryan

Well guys, the party's over.

When the women come home, everyone gets in trouble.

Thank you for your input ma'am, I think it's safe to say that we can all back away from this now.

Happy Holidays.

Hi guys- Its the wifey again, I just had to check back and I am glad that you all heard me out but this is it for me now. I really think my husband realizes the error in his ways. If he doesn't I will remind him again until he does. That will surely be enough. <Return>
Hope you all can go back to having some fun. Remember if it is not what you want, tell him as he should do the same. I am not one for bailing my husband out of jams. I have said to him before, when your in a pickle, get yourself out. Well, anyway, after reading the last two posts, you guys are all just cute good ol boys. Now its back to Ebay for me and some holiday cooking. Wish you all well and blessings, including you Ryan and a Merry Christmas, too.

Already moved on, nothing more to add.
OWL never offered full replacement refund for his mistake, even though I offered to eat the return shipping. If I make a mistake, I correct it, even if it means that I take a loss. Although that hasn't happened to me as a seller yet, because I am very careful to confirm/verify what I'm selling. OWL could have avoided this. OWL apparently believes that I should pay for his mistake. I trust everyone on this forum, unless they prove me wrong to have trusted them. OWL proved me wrong, and I learned a lesson. BTW, I never received any apology from OWL, but you refer to one. Did I miss it?
*****
Back to regularly scheduled programming. I'm done with this.

I posted an apology, However I guess I should have been more specific.

Ken and Ryan, I'm sorry for my behavior and will make it up to you. Everyone else I may have been rude to or otherwise taken advantage of, I apologize to you as well.

Ken, If you send the knife back I will refund the $65 you paid me and give you an extra $3 for shipping. Or, you can keep it and I'll send you a check for $10.

Ryan, Since I traded the Viele, I can send you a Spyderco Police G-10,flat ground plain edge blade. It has been drilled & tapped for tip up or down carry. I have never carried this knife and it is like new. I also have a Benchmade Sentinel and Stryker that are slightly used, coming in a trade. However, I have to wait and find out if the person I traded with is pleased with my knives.

To the man who got the Sebenza sheath from me in a trade, I offer to buy it back from you for $10.

Man, Sometimes it takes the misses to wake you up, how embarassing. I will take resposibility for my actions. I enjoy this forum too much to just walk away from it. From now on, if I decide to sell anything here, I will inspect it first. I will try to describe it according to the rating system in the other post, and also provide a picture.

Thank You.

* I do not speak for the others, as they deserve the compensations that you have offered.

It's a very tempting offer OWL, but after all of this I have realized that it was the principle that got me so irritated. Your sincere apology will cover my loss now. Have a Merry Christmas.
