THIS GUY MIKE HAS MY KNIFE THAT I SENT TO HIM FOR A CUSTOM SHEATH AND HAS HAD IT SINCE DEC 09. HAVE REACHED OUT TO HIM ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS VIA PHONE AND EMAIL. WILL NOT RETURN MY CORRESPONDENCE. I JUST WANT MY KNIFE BACK.

EXTREMELY HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES.:grumpy::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy:

BUYERS BEWARE.:thumbdn::thumbdn::thumbdn::thumbdn:

Because everyone says "Oh it's the way Mike does things. He is honest and does superb work and you'll get your knife but he is just a terrible communicator"

With all the RESPONSIBLE sheath makers why go thru this crap just to have a sheath made????

And this crap sure does seem to happen often...................................

Yea well, dudes got my blade. I do use different people now but it would be nice to have my knife back. People are really f-cked up.

Unfortunately, I've seen this kind of thing over and over in many fields. Sometimes skilled craftsmen are horrible businessmen and didn't realize how much of their time would
get consumed dealing with people, calls, inquiries, request... It becomes hard to get any real work done. By nature I think craftsmen would rather focus on their work than deal with people. They really need a business partner to manage the business side. Fortunate ones have a spouse or partner.

just my .02

If you run a business it sure helps to be a businessman!!!!!

Hire a High School student a few hours a week to help with the most important part of the business; communication!!!!

He posts sort of regularly over at the Spyderco factory forum. If you're a member over there, you could send him a PM.

I dont know what it is about the kydex guys. First Skunk Works, then Survival Sheaths, now River City. They just seem to get well known, get their business solid, and then go to s**t.

Is he in Hamilton, Ohio.?............Email me if he is and i will go knock on his door and ask about your knife....carl

Last year I was in the market for a Kydex sheath for my Factory second StreetBeat.I contacted a couple people including Mike asking prices,,I ended up going with Hoopster, here on the forum and I'm glad I did.
I hear stories about RCS all the time, all bad...I hope this works out for you.

He sells at gunshows near Pittsburgh PA pretty regularly. He was just here about a month ago with a load of pre-made sheath/knife combo packages and stuff. Mostly cold steel and spydie stuff, so he's obviously still in business.

I hate to hear that. I've seen Sastre set up at the Indy 1500, Knob Creek and Dayton/Cinci gun shows for years. We've talked several times since we used to paddle a lot of the same whitewater rivers in the 90s. I've never bought anything from him.

I would echo what glee said - some craftsmen are terrible businessmen. There is a maker on here who took my cash as a "deposit" and I had to hound him for nearly three years for the cash when it was obvious he could come up with product for shows/sales but not for the prepaids. Constant promises of the check/money order/paypal "would be tomorrow." He makes a nice knife... The true character of an individual is shown when they're on the ropes. :rolleyes:

I hope you get it worked out. Dec '09 is crap.

Not all. Jeff Law AKA Rainwalker is still top notch far as I know. ;) Although he's not exclusively kydex. Maybe inhaling too many fumes has something to do with it? :D

Thanks for the replies guys. The only positive thing is he hasn't cashed my check yet which tells me he probably hasn't even opened the box. I dont think the guy is trying to make a run with my cash (obviously) but I just want my damn knife back and my check. If he doesnt want the business, I'll just go else where. Keeping my stuff for almost a year is unacceptable especially with no communication. I wish my competition in my industry ran their business as shotty....I will have double the business!
