I keep hearing about these big snow storms and a bunch of central and east coast factories we work with are closed.
Anyone live in areas hit hard by the storms? How bad is it really?

Here in socal the worst it gets is maybe 50 at night! Or sometimes during the day a chilling 70. Hahah

Got about 6' of snow in the last month here in CT. Roofs are collapsing at this point and school has been closed a few times a week since Christmas.

I don't know where you're at in CA but it was 32 last night in Riverside, with a high of 50 a far cry from 70..

Yeah, I live on a hill been hit by the storm, have about 12" on the ground with maybe some 3' drifts.. My truck is parked about a mile away from my house, took my 4 wheeler out to my truck and it got stuck half way there... everything was closed yesterday but they're starting to get a hold on it.. I can now get out in my truck but cannot get back up to my house......

being from cali I'd say this is like living in the mountains, so you get snowed in big deal.. another reason mountain people hate flatlanders:D

we're lucky to get snow once a year but it hardly ever sticks... I've been here 5 yrs now, and winters are ok, with a few aches and pains along the way..

See my thread I started last night.

Biggest snow storm we've had in about 30 years, which was before I was born! Spent a good part of today switching off and on with Dad on the loader clearing drives. I bet there were 25 tractors and loaders circling town. Just residents helping each other out. It would have taken me 2 full days of shoveling to clear my driveway I'd guess. Had 8 feet of snow against my garage door. Planned ahead and backed one of our 4wds in the driveway so I could dig it out this morning. Knew I couldn't get out of the garage with it.

im in SE Texas and normally this time of year it would be in the 60s or 70s. Mostly 70s, but for the last 2 days we have had like a high of 35. It was 17 when i woke up this morning. Supposed to have another hard freeze tonight and snow tomorrow.

New England is being buried. We don't have anywhere else to put the snow.

we got maybe a foot or so last night here in hamilton. it was enough to all but shut down the city. all the schools where closed and it was hit or miss on open stores

for me, well it was the best driving so far this year. the roads where empty and the main roads where all but clear. the side roads however where the fun spots. blasting through snow drifts and sliding around corners sideways. i had to stop by the college and do my donuts. it's a snowday tradition

i even wheel Walmart

I'm like 5-10 minutes north of burbanks but still in the valley, last night around midnight it was hanging around 50!

Havent seen snow here in quite a while! We had a little bit of rain on Sunday but that's about it! What elevation are you at?

Wow! So I guess there really is something to the news of this massive storm! Glad to hear people are coming together to help rather than just shelling up ina hole.

some folks I know up by Chicago were getting 3" an hour this morning.
I woke up to 14" on the lee side of the house -- on the sides not protected from the wind there was only 6-8", but the roads were all drifted shut.

We have been without power for 24 hours now. We got about 3/4 inch of ice then wind. Had a ton of tree limbs come down yesterday. The weather is calling for a low of 2 degrees tonight so it is gonna suck here if they don't get power back up.

I'm only like 900' ASL, I'm in OK now.. much of its just flat with a couple hills no real mountains or anything..

Its times like this I miss California, when we wanted snow then I'd just take a 30min drive to Big Bear have my fun drive back down to 60 degree weather..

if it wasn't so screwed up out there(my opinion) I'd probably move back:)

Dang...Hang in there Sarge. Take care.

Here in MD it is just rain. This is nothing like we got last year, luckily it went north of us.

put on your survival pants you'll be alright.. look at it in the positive, this is experience you cannot buy..

it rained a bit today, but other than that, it was a short sleeve shirt and shorts day here. High was 78F. :)

I've been in chicago for about 10 years, and this is the worst i have ever seen it. We got about to feet 2 feet yesterday, couldn't get my car anywhere. In a big city, with that kind of snow, it shuts down pretty easily.

Holy crap! That's crazy! Where is that?

This last storm only gave us 2" of ice, but it is now stacked on about 40" snow that was already on the ground. Ugh.

The last year I lived in New York City, we had dump trucks loading up with snow to dump it in the Hudson River. No place else to put it.
