Black coatings.... Was the old crinkle coat better?

I can't help but notice that the newer Black crinkle coat is shinier, and seems to me to be a little less adhesive and more prone to flaking.
Any thoughts on this?

I really like the old-old flat black coating - no crinkle. Cabt say much about the new - do not currently have any.
