Here's what I had ready this morning....

BladeShowWIP0526-01.jpg

Most everything glued up....:D

And here's what I'm at right now:

BladeShowWIP0526-02.jpg

I'll update this as I go along....thanks for looking!

(feel free to ask questions!)

Dan

Mmmm. Those monster 'muks are tasty. I'm hoping you still have one of those around when I make it to your table.

Wow! I'm always amazed at the number of knives you crank out. You must have some tremendous muscle-memory for shaping handles and grinding blades. My hat's off to you Dan!

Serious question: How do you stay alert and focused with that much work set out before you? I'd bet that I'd space out and ruin my fair share of knives.

Maybe the fact that you're holding a sharp and potentially dangerous chunk of steel keeps you on your toes.

This will be my first trip to Blade, so I'm not sure what the rules are. That being said, if it is permitted for individuals to bring (large) blades and you twist my arm, I might bring mine. I don't have a sheath though, so carrying it around could get tricky:rolleyes:

No rules really about knives. Saw a 10 year old kid walkin around last year swinging a 3 foot sword his dad bought him.:eek:

I have 2 Survivors here that are boxed up, waiting to be paid for....I guess I could bring one and open it....but I couldn't sell it....

If you need a VIP pass - I can hook you up at the show.

Looks like you've got a lot of handle shaping to do.

I am eating the DUST in 47 flavors today, guys!!! :barf:

Alert = Mountain Dew :D

It's not so bad with flat ground knives....but the scandi-ground ones are lacking only a stropping and they are quite sharp indeed! I usually don't go with a handful of scratches when I do them.

I just finished rough-shaping....couple more hours and I'll have 'em finish-sanded.

"Brown Bagging" - bringing your own knives to sell, but not getting a table. Frowned on by the staff as well as by the makers that did pay for a table. :o

But, I wouldn't call bringing a knife to show-off "brown-bagging"...;)

For best results and a chance to chat - come by my table at typically "slow times" (mid afternoon to evening....3-5PM).

Hope to see a bunch of you guys there!!

Thanks for the insight and it makes perfect sense. I would definitely only bring pieces for show. All mine are keepers!:D

Here's where I got last night....

p.s. See you at Blade!!!

The black micarta? scales in this pic look like charcoal, pretty cool. I would love to see what a Bushmaster would look like with those.

i just bot the bottom knife in this pic. at home now. GREAT KNIFE!!! dan is a pleasure to deal with. paul oh yeah, knife knuts are a better class of people. no doubt about it.

I bought this one earlier today. This was the first blade I fell in love with when I joined Bladeforums.com. I couldn't believe it was still there today when I went back, so I snatched it up immediately.

I had put in a deposit for a Monster Nessie at the beginning of May, but lucked into an open spot on the Survivor list. Since I got that, I figured I didn't need another large chopper. Dan was super flexible and let me switch my deposit over to this bad boy. He also took the time to talk a little about hog hunting. Thanks for such an awesome blade as well as your flexibility!

You are welcome, guys! Congrats!

JC in SC - you made a good score! I had 3 other guys come back to buy that one AFTER you got it!

I know. I anguished all night Friday after leaving without it, but I had already spent my show money over at Andy's (Fiddleback Forge) table. Being the wonderful wife she is, Brenda insisted that we swing back by your table to see if it was still there and boy did I luck out. Thanks again for such a sweet blade. Now I just need to find a guided hunt!
