I'm not sure if this is the right place to write this thread, but at least it isn't about knives, so it's hopefully not the worst place to do this...

Ok, here's the deal. These days I'm in the Army to serve and protect (hah, yea!... ), so I don't have as much computer & Internet access as I would like (yes, I'm addicted to the forums).
Luckilly my cell phone offers the WAP service (Wireless Application Protocol or something like that...), so I try to check my mail as often as I can by using that 'Internet for cell phones' thingy.
But! A lot of the mails I get are notifications about new posts on this forum, which I cannot read, because my cell phone won't allow me to access the bladeforums.com page. (I have a Sony Ericsson T68i, if that matters.)

So my question is: Is it possible to make BF.c avaiable for WAPers?
Or can somebody help me out with good hints and tips so I don't have to go to a damn rehab because I can't get my daily doze of bf.c?

Thanks.

Not currently. I could make a more text friendly version of the site as a special template style, but it'd be a ton of work.

Yeah, I guess you're right about that... And the way cell phones are developing, I'm sure it won't be a problem to access it as a 'normal' WEB page. :D

do what i do, Get a phone with a IR port built in, a modem built in and then a palm pilot with a IR port. Then use your palm to connect to the internet through your phone. You will need a dialup internet connection though. Works great for me, can surf the net from whereever i want :)

Doesn't that get quite costy by time, Rifter?
I must say I have been thinking those thoughts, though. :D

There's been some discussion of portable modeming in the Gadgets & Gear forum -- I'll move this thread there and see if anybody can help. Try searching that forum for what's already been posted, too.

it doesnt get costly because i have free evenings and weekends, and during the week im at work during the day so the only time i use it is when i have unlimited airtime :D

Spark, about text friendly, I used Lynx as my primary browser (at work :D) for the whole summer, and BladeForums is a dream to browse through with a text-only browser.

You've pretty much got it all right, unlike many, many other sites that have input boxes everywhere. Back when there was still the jump-to-forum selector, I could fly through forums real fast :)

I'm going to go back to Lynx soon, because I haven't yet found a better browser under Linux. For now I'm kind of marooned in a Windows world.

I use a wireless modem nearly every day. It's Verizon Wireless' Express Network. I connect with a Sierra Wireless Aircard 555. In fact, I'm using it right now. It also works with any MS PocketPC palmtop that supports PCMCIA Cards (Compaq iPaq and HP Journada). Price for the service is by minute or a limited time offer of unlimited for $99 (what I use).

Disclosure: I work for Verizon, but not Verizon Wireless. While I get no special treatment from them and their sales don't help my group's bottom line, I thought you might want to know ahead of time.
