Blades Rubbing on Case Large Stockman

I just got a Case Large Stockman in Amber bone and the spey and sheepsfoot blades rub against each other to the point that the spey blade catches on the nail nick of the sheepsfoot making it very hard to open. I've never had a stockman before so I don't know if this is par for the course or not? Should I send the knife back to Case for readjustment?

I had the bolsters on the knife engraved, is this something that can be fixed without having to replace the knife?

Its not uncommon for them to rub a little. Yours sounds really extreme though.
Sometimes they can be cautiously worked over a little to where they don't rub, or don't rub as bad. But with yours being that extreme, I'm thinking it wouldn't get rid of all of it.

For some reason, I have noticed it less on older knives than I have on newer production.
Could be just a coincidence, but then again most of my knives are older, so maybe its not a fair assessment.

You could send it in to Case for repair, but I'm not sure if the engraved bolsters would survive. I would definitely ask them before sending it in though

I agree - the amount of blade rub you're describing is not normal; it's to the level where the knife is defective.

I'd telephone (not email) Case and ask the folks at their repair department the specific questions you may have.
They might replace rather than repair the knife, they might have to replace the bolsters, etc.

i have the same model knife as you do. my spey blade gets stuck on the sheepfoot's nail nick also. what i do is stick my thumb nail behind the spey blade and use my pointer finger to open the blade.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I contacted the online store, xxcutlery.com, to see what they can do about this.
