just got a BM690 a few days ago and noticed the liner is barely engaging. is this acceptable?

should i be concerned about it, and if so is there anything i can do besides sending it in for warranty?

It's fine. As the lock wears it has room to slide over. If it started in the middle or further to the other side you'd have less room for wear.

That's perfect. 100% engagement with maximum room for wear.

I'm so glad I don't have a customer service or warranty repair job.

haha owen. well all i really have to compare it to is a mini socom and mini socom elite which were both halfway. also this mini AFCK i got is obviously used then, because even the tang has a slight dent. i'm trying to figure out what to do now since i also got it on ebay. if i leave negative, he'll give me negative. it's a catch 22 :grumpy:

edit: i've got a wierd feeling he sent it in for warranty and then put it for NIB...

It can vary a bit from knife to knife... even within the same model. On one 690 I had, the liner landed in the middle of the tang. With another one though, the liner just barely engaged (like the knife pictured above).

I think it's all good as long as you have a solid, stable lock-up. There isn't really one "correct" position for a liner lock. Having said that though, I would echo previous posters in preferring that the liner fall to the left of center on the tang ramp on a new knife, which would hopefully allow more room for wear.
