Any chance I can order one with black grips and totally devoid of not just the clip, but even the clip hole and tappings never done to the grip?

This is how #1 shipped, and I love it. I want to take the pristine grips off of the D2, fit them to #1 and carry the D2 blade and the slightly carry-worn grip panels off of #1.

Does this make sense? #1's blade is still pristine, the blade never ONCE rubbed against the liners, which is damned impressive for daily carry, frequent snapopens.

Sorry if this is a pain but ol' #1 deserves a place of honor in absolutely mint condition, and this seems the best way to get there...

Glad to hear that #1 may be retired to a place of honor. I have #50 and 51. Got the green to put up and the black to carry. After I got them in I could not carry either one on a consistant basis. So they are both in a case with a Black-t'd and a CF stonewashed, waiting for other SIFU's to arrive. The CF one will travel out west with the wife and I this Sept. I am waiting for the red/black t BFC one now. I guess I am getting a regular collection of SIFU's. Now that D2 is comming I have to see if there is room for another one in the case.

It's a fine line between "a hobby" and "mental illness".

Ya, the only decision now is "bring it back to factory with grip panels off a D2-M" or "send it to Frank Recupero for the full monty".

It really is a revolutionary design, even if it gets superceded by others it'll mark a turning point in folder development and it will never be an "inadequate" tool.

Bob,

Me too, me too, except I want Carbon Fiber grips on mine. Can I, can I, can I, please?
