Every time I look at the pics, I think I like it more.

Anyone ever played with one in person? At 3.75" blade, it's probably bigger than I can comfortably carry, but it sure looks cool.

Mike-

I got to play with one at the last Solvang show. It is absolutely the smoothest knife I have ever handled. A push on the flipper simply rockets the blade open. They are also as well made as all of Phil's knives. He is a really nice guy, so perhaps he would make one a little smaller if you asked. I hope this helps.

Ugh. I was _almost_ hoping you'd tell me the flipper sucks and it was a waste of $$$.

After a reply like that, I guess now I _have_ to buy one.

:)

It is a great knife, got to handle one a while back and it is sweet, so smooth to open! The flipper really works nice on that, I was very tempted to get one as well after having it for a short while! But dollars kept me away...for now! ;)

Mike,

I agree with all the above. This was one of the slickest opening knives I ever flipped. Even though it has a 3.75" blade it is quite slim and light. In fact it was too small for me! You would have no problem carrying this one in dress slacks.
Seems like I saw a King Cobra that had a 4.00" or 4.25" blade? Now that would not be too small!

I have been using mine daily, in rotation, for awhile and it is great. I flip it and I always am amazed at the smoothness.

I bought mine from Phil at the show in Las Vegas and I told him at that time that liner locks can not open as smooth as his. It is also very light weight and rounded to fit well in the pocket.

I did not really care for his pocket clip but that is OK because I like to keep mine safe from coins and keys and things that go bump in my pocket. G2 made a sheath that is home now.

It is not quite this pretty anymore but close.

I suppose I could get a cobra sheath to go with my boa sheath. Hmm. I wonder why the attraction to "snake" knives?

I put down a deposit on the maroon-scaled one listed on BladeArt. It says "anodized", but I don't think it's that same blue. Now THAT is nice!

What don't you like about the clip? It sure looks good in pics -- it's mounted high, which I like, so you can't see much of the knife sticking out of your pocket.

Pictured is the sheath Gary made. I think he just likes to handle OPK, (Other Peoples Knives)but just for a little while. ;)

The clip Phil uses IMHO looks more like an after thought, it screws in the 2 holes in the bolster as seen in the pic, but it could just be me. As I said before I carry it in the sheath to keep it look as good as possible and still get used.

You will not be disappointed, every time you flip it you will be amazed.

I wonder what he is bringing to next years show.

Guess I'll just have to buy it and find out. :-)

Nice Michael, I was eyeing that very one as well, glad someone took it before I did something I'd probably not regret....;)

Recluse,

I probably handled the same one at Solvang that you did. Did you end up buying it?

That back row was the goods eh? We spent some time with Phil, then SR Johnson, and then with Rhett and Janie....all the while my wife was talking Jess Horn into making her a folder...

I was so dazed by the time we stumbled outta there, that I'd forgotten about the Cobra.

We went back to the hotel, made a few plans, and headed back to the show...I was thinking Cobra folder, she was thinking Velarde integrals...

"Yikes" The show was closed down for the day...at 4 PM!

We both had to get early starts, me south, and her north, so going back the next day was outta the question..."Drats"

I wonder who got Phil's Cobra? Or was it already sold? Taking orders only I think it was....hmmm...

btw Kevin, can you make it to Vito's in Sunnyvale on Sat. the 1st at 5 PM for Pizza and knives?

Hi Melvin-

I spent quite a while talking with Phil Boguszewski, but I didn't get the Cobra. I have a small vice named Phill Hartsfield that happened to be only a few tables over...... ;)

It sure was sweet though. I thought that it was amazing that it opened so quickly and easily, but still had a good, solid detente.

I will try to make it to Vito's. I read somewhere on the forums that the pizza was as close to "real" (that is, East Coast) pizza that one was likely to find in Northern CA. :)

Man, that Boguszewski Cobra is a sweet knife !

Thanks for sharing the pic's of something that I've been wanting. :D

i was fortunate enough to purchase one at a local show a couple of weeks ago... and all i can say is WOW !!! i always liked the look of the Cobra...but when i actually had it in my hand is when i really seen what this knife is all about... excellent craftsmanship through out... the flipper action is the smooooooothest i have ever handled ,(you would swear there are rollerbearings in the action) awesome grinds,BG42 blade ,ti bolsters, green canvas micarta scales... this knife is a keeper!:D great carry knife! dont hesitate to get it, you wont regret it:)

I never handled a Cobra until two weeks ago. My brother-in law (Chisel) showed up with one at a family cookout. I was blown away. This has got to be the smoothest opening knife I have ever seen. You really must see one to believe it. This knife has just shot to the top of my custom knife wish list!!:D :D

Regards,

Joe

That feeling of amazement stays with you, every time it is opens.

The only thing that I have found that comes close to ease is knives by Larry Chew.

If look at the way a liner lock works, with preasure on the side of the blade while the blade is opening, these knives can not open this smooth. It can not be, but it is.

I had Phil make me one a few months back (my first custom!) It is indeed as smooth as everyone says. I first saw the knife on KnifeArt, and fell in love. But, I wanted Phil to make mine to order, rather than buying one already finished. So, I wrote him, and that started a very nice email back and forth. He's a great guy, very friendly, and tolerated my sometimes silly (well, to me, anyway) questions.

He quoted me a price and timeframe, and the knife was ready, almost to the day, of the time mentioned. The precision, smoothness, attention to detail, and beauty of this knife are beyond compare. Mine's got maroon micarta, purple anodized and jeweled liners, and the polished Ti bolsters. Personally, I like the pocket clip. It engages the pocket smoothly, and rides nice and low. It fits the knife quite well, IMO.

Mike, you will love this knife! :D

Well Mike...did ya get it yet?

;)

Awesome looking knife for sure. I have always been a real sucker for a recurve. I would like to get one myself, but don't seem to have any luck in finding one.

How about a Spyderco collaboration?

No, I put a chunk down initially, and I'll finally be able to pay it off on Wednesday.

Sure looking forward to it though.
