Hello everyone,

A first-of-its-kind, fully illustrated insight into the complex, exact and demanding
process of making a Full Integral knife fills a 32 page section in the new book I am
just finishing about Edmund Davidson.

For this section, Edmund created the #1 of a series of five numbered Integrals,
etched with a special logo with the name of the book. These five knives were made
to commemorate the publishing of the book.

The knife is a Full Integral, a "Modified Max's Crooked Skinner". The knife pattern
was created by narrowing down Edmund’s popular design, Max’s Crooked Skinner.
Shown here is the #1 of this series of five.
All five knives have desert ironwood handle scales and in addition to the special etched logo
on the blade, they also have Edmund’s popular “Deer head” logo etched on its reverse side.
The knives are fully engraved by Jere Davidson, using different styles for each piece.
The five knives are made of D-2 steel (Rc 61), blade length is 3 5/8” (92 mm) and their
overall length is 8 1/8” (206 mm).

Althought I 'm not a fan of the "skinner" design, this knife is magnificent and I certainly look forward to obtaining the book. I have all of DDD's books and thoroughly enjoy viewing the "paper" knife show.

Thanks Murray! Actually this Skinner design, or at least its "bigger brother",
is one of Edmund's very popular designs with hunters needing a hard working
long lasting knife......

Hi M. Darom,

are these knives pre-sold ? or for sale ? or are they yours ?...
Great job anyway. Hope you'll show the 4 brothers...

Patrick

Great project David. Good for us all.

Will look forward to this book and especially your next.

Actually Patrick, this is a numbered series of five knives, and they actually are
identical pieces with the same ironwood handle material. The only difference
between them, appart from the serial number (1-5), is the different engraving style
on each knife.

I have the #1 shown in the picture above. I think that the other 4 knives,
even though they have not been completed yet, are already spoken for...

The etched logo used on each of these knives (displaying the title of the book),
will not be used on any other knife Edmund Davidson will be making.

Yes, Kevin, the next project will be the "Cup-of-tea" for quite a few of the
members on this Forum........

Edmund is my hero.

What a Knifemaker and what a Man!

If he had not welcomed me in his shop back in 98/99 and taught me how to make stock removal knives I cant imagine what might of become of me.

Can you imagine Snody forging??

Thank you Edmund for teaching me how to grind.
