First of all, I'm new to this forum, as well as to edged weapons. I've been reading a lot of posts here, especially the ones on bowies, and I'm learning tons of stuff. Great forum!

Here are my questions:

1) Does anyone have any feedback regarding cold steel's Laredo? I'm just dying to hear anybody's experience on this. I'm looking at it as more of a double-duty knife, leaning more towards the survival end than the fighting end (as I already have a production hell's belle). Anyone's feedback/experiences would be appreciated.

2) Has anyone heard of any knife-fighters or systems that address a DOUBLE bowie fighting style? I come from a filipino MA background, so the double stick work blends well with the double bowie work.

Thanks guys!

I doubt if anyone has their mitts on a Larado yet. From the pictures it appears to look a whole lot like the Ontario Hells Belle. Looks more a fighter than a camp knife. The Trailmaster may be a better choice?

I handled a Laredo at SHOT, ordered a few, and was told they'd be out in about 60days, so they should hit the streets soon. While the Ontarios are pure fighters, this knife is suited for double duty. The false edge is sharpened for backcutting, length is good (10 1/2"), it moves pretty well, but also weighs just a tad more than a Trailmaster, so is also good for chopping, etc. JAK's ABC #5 video covers double knife sets with the big blades.

Thanks for the great responses guys!

thanks for the links. :D

I'm glad to hear the SOMEONE has handled this laredo. I can't wait for someone's review of it hear. Out of curiosity, did you get to ask details about the knife at the SHOT show? I'm interested in knowing how the knife is attached to the handle, as I don't see any rivets.

4 Ranges,

Never thought to ask how the handle was attached. We were talking about my Southern Comfort sheaths when Lynn Thompson showed me the Laredo, and my interest was more on how the knife felt, moved in the hand, and to see any potential difficulties in making a Southern Comfort for it. Since the leather sheath that comes with it is the same style, none expected.
