Anybody ever heard of Bradford Cutlery? They've made a couple of appearances on shop-at-home type shows and the pitchmen (predictably) acted like they were widely known, but an internet search turns up very little. Basically only this from Smoky Mountain Knife Works. Other than that. Nada. Is this some kind of Case offshoot? Anybody know. Supposedly 1095 blades and old world craftsmanship. Looks real good. Mighty good.

I'm not 100% positive but I believe those are made by G.E.C.

i think morrowj is correct, GEC
doesnt look like a case to me...
Nice looking knife but the darn blade etch:barf:
why would you do that to the knife? The font is all wrong for the pattern, just clumsy, then again those can be dealt with:)

You're correct..I caught one of SMKW's show's when the first pattern was introduced and they mentioned that the knives were being made by GEC.

The first model was an Elephant Toe, the Second issue must be the Trapper. Both made by GEC.

Nice looking knife there -- horrible etch though, totally out of place and time for that pattern. That'd have to go - fortunately that's an easy thing to do on 1095.

Special contract brand by GEC for SMKW. Smoky will be able to fill their catalog with brands they own and contract out in another year or so...

Neeman, SMKW & Blue Ridge are buying up old trademarks (and making up new ones). Then they find someone to make them and start producing them for collectors looking for something new.

Forget about the multitude of chinese knives they own with new/old names, just American made names they either own or have sole rights to are Bradford Cutlery, Titusville Cutlery, Colonel Coon, Cripple Creek, Queen City, Black Jack, and more that are coming. All great quality knives...

But at a somewhat premium price. Mike, they sell the Colonel Coon for more than you sell the authentic GEC stuff, and in my opinion, the contract knives are a little lower quality. YMMV.

I thought the Colonel Coon knives were made by Queen. Am I mistaken?

My bad, thanks for the correction. But still, what do you all think of the quality of the contract brands, compared to their own marks? The quality of the stag and bone used seems to me just a little inferior.
