Snagged a CS Norse Hawk at a local gun show this weekend and plan on doing a few modifications. I'm going for the frontier look and was wondering if anyone can tell me where to get those brass tacks to decorate the handle.

Hi,

There's some custom stores you can order them from (and others could tell you the contact info), the reason I posted was to suggest you go to any furniture repair stores in your area. They usually have racks of old tacks they have pulled from old chairs. I got forty or fifty really aged, solid brass tacks for free, for the asking. Just a thought.

Regards,

Dave

Thanks. I guess that I'm showing my ignorance but I thought that the tacks used on the tomahawks were a special kind for that purpose.

If you have a Tandy Leather store, or some such, they may have some, I got some there a few years back.

I saw some of those at Crazy Crow but they called them metal spots and didn't look quite the same so I wasn't sure if that's what everyone uses. Also, if that's what to use what size should I get. I didn't know that there was different sizes.

I too recommend Crazy Crow. The metal spots are for sheaths, but they also carry tacks as well. That's where I get mine from.

i'll go back and look a little better. when I typed in brass tack on the home page the spots were all that came up. I thought that they should have them.
