Last week I posted a "teaser" image sent to me by Bret Dowell of a "City Knife" style prototype he had built for me. Today, I can happily say that it has arrived.
In reviewing some images of Bret's recent work, I found myself very attracted to a new pattern he had developed with a tip of the cap to Bob Loveless (who originated the "City Knife" pattern) and Jerry Halfrich who had built his own excellent rendition based upon the original.
When I mentioned to Bret that I loved the frame but told him I'd be much more interested in a modified wharncliffe (or zulu) blade, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Bret had designed a pattern for just that. Say no more, I was hooked.
Well, fast forward a few weeks and today the knife arrived to deliver a little warmth into an otherwise bitter day.
Stats:
3.75" closed
154-CM @ ~ 60 Rc
Green Canvas Micarta (as a Loveless style should
)
2 1/8 oz.
You can tell Bret spends lots of time with a knife because this knife not only feels great in the hand but is razor sharp to boot. The size and weight are perfect for EDC and there's not a sharp corner to be found.
To sum up, good things are happening in Oklahoma. And better yet, the value can't be beat.
Thanks, Bret! :thumbup:
