broke my mini pentagon

I just got my mini pentagon a couple weeks ago and now I broke it

. I stabbed it into a pice of soft pine to see if the grip might slip, and crack!--the tip broke off. I shouldn't have even tried something like that with a knife with such a needle like point. I was really starting to like this knife too.

Sorry to hear. Well at least you are still in one piece. You may want to see if SOG would repair it for you under warranty. Stabbing a knife by hand into soft wood is not abuse in my book.

i have to agree with not2sharp, even being a fine point it still shouldn't break going into soft pine.

How thick is the blade at the point that it cracked off and what kind of penetration did you get? I have a couple of blades that I could probably break the points off of by stabbing them into a piece of wood at full force but they are very hard (62 RC) and very thin (1/8 stock and a full distil taper).

Send SOG an e-mail about it. They were helpful when I had a problem with my knife.
