Bruce Evans What a Rippin Fantastic piece of Damascus:D

After saving my pennies, I was finally able to buy a piece of his Damascus.
It is Cool.
I hope to finish this Bowie well enough to make OL Bruce proud. If nothing else the blade will look really great.
Plans are for a Ironwood burl handle and SS satin finish fittings.

I will post pics when I get a chance to finish this beast!
Anyway if your looking for some Cooool Damascus give him a shout, you won't be dissapointed.

i have a hunter that i ground out of a piece of bruce evans frontier damascus that i put a thulya handle on today. it is too cool! also used some of his green bark bone on a three finger utlity and it is finishing up great. hope to have some pics in the next few days.

Robert, That is a cool piece of steel! That Bruce E. can weld, thats a fact.

As a plug for Bruce Evans; He has the best bang for the buck on damascus. I think he has a big stock of stabilized woods and bone for sale too.

Robert, Nice grinds too.

I can vouch for Bruce's damascus also. I've got the billet from hell, just ask him:D
I cant decide what to do with it yet but it will be a massive thing or three or more smaller pieces with material left for gaurds and bolsters etc. Definately give Bruce a shout if you want a great deal on some bang up steel.

Bruce,

What is the steel on the damascus, if you don't mind?

Thanks,

JD

I wanted to make sure I got your attention Bruce E.

I can't wait to finish this beast the Ironwood should turn out cool.

This is a very nic pattern. I take it it's a straight laminate that was ground from a solid bar, right?

How would you go aout replicating that look (a large number of horizontal lines) in a forged-to-shape blade?

Thanks,

JD

This piece was welded up of several odd ball sized pieces and not the traditional way of welding up a stack and then welding. To try and reproduce this look you will need 4 or more bifferent types of steel, then weld it to a 5-600 layer billet.then make cuts real close together at random widths and angles with a angle grinder then stretch the bllade out and leave all hammer dings in the billet before you grind it.This may give you this pattern.I never really know how I get the patterns I do with the way I make some of my Damascus. It is like a suprise every time a bar is ground.
Good Luck.
Bruce

Hey, if it's unique, so much the better. In any case, it's an awesome piece.

Yes it is. I use it as a thanks to God when a knife I smith turns out well. I also use it to blame Him when it doesn't....;)
