That evil Strider bug is burrowing deeper and deeper into my poor soul. Literally poor. First the AR, then the little DB. Now, I'm interested in the BT. Unfortunately for me, my dealer of choice, Matt D., is all too helpful with my obsession/addiction. Mick, you should be proud of him!

Any opinions regarding serrations on the BT? I'll probably never have to cut rope underwater, but they just look so cool...

I'd go with the serrations. It gives you an extra cutting edge, and allows you to cut rope fast, which is a plus. The serrations look like they would be excellent rippers of material!

Now my only reservation would be if you were going to spine wack the knife through something, but in that case if you were using wood to wack the blade who cares if the serrations mess up the wood? I have wacked my BT in that manner twice in all the time I have owned it.

It's a toss up.

Let us know what you get. I am on a tight STRIDER budget right now I'm saving up for my SnG in November!

L.O. Little you right about the serrations cutting rope under water, and apparently that's all there good for. So if you're not going scuba diving any time soon they would just be for looks. But it dooes look cool!

L.O.L. I'm told that when you stab the blade with SS into a door or a box, you are not gonna pull it out smoothly. Has anyone cut a rope with it underwater? I wonder how good they are? But I have to admit I'd go for BT-SS full flat ground. That's just way too cool!

I like the spine serrations, but for a different reason then rope cutting. I used to go backpacking (and plan to start up again). I would use the serrations as a wood saw. I have used my HT's serrations on plastic and have no doubt that a BT,BN, or MT (or my HT) with serrations would work well on branches or other sawing applications out in the field. It just gives you another reason to play with your knife while out and about:D

spartan_ajax & SOX, you guys & I seem to have similar tastes. Thanks partially to your input, I decided to go with the serrations. After much thought, consideration, etc, I decided the BT-SS is just too freaking cool.

Thanks again, Matt D!
