First, this knife is NOT for sale. It is a CUSTOM done for a fellow member here at Bladeforums who I don't think ever visits this Traditional Forum. So, he does not know the knife is done... :D

I thought it would be a bit fun to see if he hears about this knife being posted here or if he hears about or "finds" this posting. I think I can wait a day or two to let him in on this and hopefully he will find some nice comments on his knife from the Traditional crowd....

The stone is a really rare PORCELAIN agate version of Deschutes Picture Jasper from Oregon. This Porcelain type agate is brutally hard and takes Hours and Hours and Hours to grind, sand and polish.

Please be nice - remember this is a fellow members surprise. HE HAS NOT EVEN SEEN THE STONE USED YET! ;)

wow... ;)

That is seriously nice work Mike, as always.
Looks like a painting enveloped in Lucite.

That is stunning!! Both the beauty of the stone and your impeccable-as-always fitting and finishing. Congratulations on such a nice piece. It really is jewelry, the way you make it.

That is just amazing. The patterns, and randomness, and COLOR are just amazing. He will love it for sure.

Frickin' drop dead gorgeous. Highly impressive.

No kidding...

If I had a knife with those scales I would wear it on my forehead for all to see...

You...my friend...are the man...

:D

If you look real close you can see the pattern matches from side to side on the knife. Quite frankly, not all of my knives turn out this perfect. I just get so excited when all of the stars, planets and moons align just right and I get something like this. This type of knife is what I get up every day hoping to be so fortunate to be able to do with my own hands.

This art piece makes all of the days and knives that are great but not "oh my gosh" knives worth the attempt and those give me the skills and patience to occasionally get something like this to occur. The wild thing is this stone is so tough it would easily stand up to every day carry and use!

The sad part for me is I set the price BEFORE I started working on it! :p:p

He is REALLY getting a great deal! :D :D I was tempted to start another one for him and to put this one in my personal collection.

Thank you for the so kind comments.

I've heard about you and seen some of your work on the bay, but this is way out. This is TOP GUN for sure. If this customer doesn't get a least a tiny tear in their eye upon receiving this knife some thing is wrong.

I can't say it's beautiful. It would be an understatement. It's a gorgeous knife and I'm sure you'll make one happy forumite here.
These said, I'm glad it isn't mine. It would be yet another knife I'll have to keep in the drawer without having the guts to actually use it - sooo frustrating... :grumpy:

Must say that is a striking 110! I think one of the nicest you have given us the pleasure of seeing.

I am sure your lucky customer will be very excited and pleased to receive this knife.

Ken

Sweet! More excellent work.

The two which you did for me have a place of honor in the house!
