Good afternoon all - I have a black oxide 3A or a 3B - not sure what variant it is nor what is the approximate value the 184 site really does not show a big difference - additionally - it appears as there are approximately 1102 made in black oxide (per the Buck master list Buck master list. **- pjsjr pjsjr thanks for checking the numbers. I bought this in my teens to use on a backpacking trip - well let me tell ya - Taking that dam knife on the backpacking trip was gruelling enough for me to never again take it anywhere again except to my top dresser drawer where it sat till i moved out of my parents house - i worked an entire summer and purchased the 184 and a Buck titanium folder to go with it. Thanks in advance for the information.

Do you have the original compass?
is the sheath complete with its built in sharpening stone?
Also, I don’t see the black oxide in the photos.

The sheath is complete - never used the stone at all - Really never used the knife either - I carried it on one overnight backpacking trip and that was it - in the sock drawer she went - I do have the compass

 Is that why your username is what it is? - You must get lots of giggles out of that. lol

Check the 'bay' for completed sales. There are many things to consider in placing a value on any item.
Nothing on the bay sold with the production numbers as low as the run that i got - most of the ones that i saw were the later black oxide (with the "BUCKMASTER" written on the side) or the sand blast.

GMUGNIER GMUGNIER You seem to have done a lot of research and know what you have. When selling something like your 184 you have to find the buyer that's as knowledgeable as you about the item. Then that buyer has to want the item more than you to be willing to pay the price you ask.

When looking at the completed sales you can see a wide range of prices paid for similar items...not your exact knife. When looking at the information on...
https://survivalknife184.com/buck master list.html if yours is one of the rarest of the rare black oxide 184s then you might get 'mucho dinero' if you find the right buyer.

I can make the assumption that to get the best price for your knife you would need to find someone that is collecting black oxide 184s and is needing yours to fit into that collection.
There are much more knowledgeable people on this forum than I that might come along and be able to give you a price range, I can only wish you the best. 😊

You could always put it on eBay with a high reserve and see what happens
Been a member of Ebay since 1999 - The fee's have become absurd - will never sell anything again there unless they drastically change their price structure.

Well, you are a Gold Member here. That means you can list it on the Buck For Sale Forum FREE. You can ask a price you would be comfortable with at no risk or cost. There are more people monitoring this forum (without participating) than you would think. Any time an odd or unusual Buck is discussed here guarantees a surge in eBay listings for that item.

Yes - I know i could do that - but i am trying to gauge what a realistic number might be - per forum guidelines - "If" a knife is listed for sale you must be prepared to sell it - Do you have any knowledge of similar sales on 184's with low production numbers?
