I got this 309 in the mail today and I thought I would post some pictures.

It has a couple flaws that I am not very happy about, but I am pretty sure Buck will be able to to take care of them.

There is a little bit of blade play in the clip blade and a lot of blade play in the pen blade.

I think the scales came out pretty nice, so no problems there.

EDIT: on second thought, maybe I'll just keep this one the way it is, and see how it develops over time, who knows.

Nice looking, but let me suggest that you deal with any blade problems before you or anyone else customize a knife. I believe once it is altered it voids the warranty and Buck will not work on it because the aftermarket scales could be damaged...... Someone correct me if I am wrong here. I am assuming it is aftermarket scale by the looks and your comments.

In my opinion blade play on a new knife is totally unacceptable and I would send it back to Buck to have it replaced or repaired. I hate paying my money on a knife and then having to spend more money to send it back in to get what you paid for in the first place. I have had to do this on a couple of knives and not all of them were made by Buck.
Nice looking knife by the way, I have been watching them on Buck's online site also.

Wow, thats a darn nice looking little pocket knife!

Is that available from Buck at the present time? I think that knife could actually lure me away from my Case Peanut's for a while. I've always liked the 309, since I worked with a guy named Wayne who was a fanatic on his. Did everything with that knife. It was his yard knife, fishing knife, whittling knife, and whatever.

Do the new 309s have a single backspring?

Carl.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Carl, I bought this directly from Bucks site. It is listed under their "web specials." PM inbound.
