Steve,
A friend saw the modified Buck 501 I got from you - with the pocket clip and thumbstud. He has two Buck 501s and he would like to get a clip on each and a thumbstud on one. How much would that cost?

Fred

I have always received $25 for thumb studs and $30 for the clips each Fred. The carbide drill I need to go through those hardened blades is expensive and they sometimes break if I hiccup while using one because they are very fragile even in larger sizes. Also the risk is high threading into those bolsters and the job may seem simple but it takes some mapping out and planning. Buck polishes the pins in that folder so well sometimes that its not often easy to find them to be sure you avoid drilling into them and stuff like that plus I have to make custom clips from scratch so I hope he understands the cost involved. If not thats cool as I certainly understand that money is tight. The best way to do that is the way you got into one to be honest with you. But you already know that. ;)

Steve,
Thought it best to reply to your question in this thread

We need to talk by the way. I got another package in the mail from you today. Not sure I understand the work order exactly. Did you notice one of the knives has an exposed point when the blade is closed? I can fix that but its from the blade never closing deep enough in the folder body. Buck should have caught that on the way out the door but missed it in QC.

These two Buck 501's belong to a friend. He would like a pocket clip on each and a thumbstud (right hand) on one of them.

No, I didn't notice the exposed point. Yes, please fix the blade closing problem.

Thanks,
Fred

I'll fix it up when it comes up here. On the work order in the end notes section it said put pocket clips on both, thumb studs on both, and 'pick a knife' with a :-) or something like that. I was confused by that.
