...looking to nab one as my weekend hard use around the yard folder, do I want spearpoint or tanto? Bear in mind I carry a smaller spearpoint, too.

Thanks....

I don't see the tanto as a utility folder. Get the spearpoint as I did. It is extremely robust, even at the tip, so you won't be giving up much in tip strength, either.

Get the spearpoint. I have a tanto and find it much less useful for chores and such around the yard than the spearpoint. Unless you plan on stabbing the knife into concrete repeatedly I feel that the spearpoint is a much better choice.

Ed and Erik are right. Tantos are generally not very utlitarian and the Buck Strider tanto version's secondary edge is very thick and thus even less suited for regular utility cutting chores.

I have both versions, and I carry the spearpoint all the time, but carry the tanto rarely.

The tanto's front edge is unsharpened, I think. Get the spearpoint. And get the newer version of the buck-strider, with smoother G10 scales, unless you want your pockets stressed out....
