I recently lost my second Spyderco Delica 4, and was looking for a replacement EDC clip-it knife. Since I can’t seem to keep my $50-$60 Spydercos for very long, I thought I’d shop around to see if there were any other “cheap” options since I’ll most likely lose it at some point. I stumbled onto the Buck Vantage Select small @ $19.99 with free shipping. Since I like my other Buck knives well enough, I ordered it and then decided to do a little Internet surfing to see what people thought of the knife. For the most part comments were favorable, but there were some that indicated that fit and finish is sometimes questionable with these knives. I figured for $20 I wasn’t out much, and I’d give it away if I wasn’t satisfied with it. Well it came today and I can honestly say I was really surprised at how nice this knife is. The blade is perfectly centered, the liner lock works fine. In general the fit and finish is as good as anything I’ve bought (Victorinox, Sypderco, Benchmade, etc.) If this knife holds up well to everyday pocket carry and use, I think I’ve found a new EDC knife. If you’re not worried about higher end steel, then I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this knife (if mine is any kind of a representative sample). I also like the feel of it in my hand and the blade shape and size. Blade also looks pretty robust. American made, better than average fit and finish…what’s not to like. I feel like I found one of those rare bargains, and I have a large size ordered also.

Try the avid series as well very nice for not much more money, better handle scales also.

The Vantage is a great knife! Plus, as you mentioned, American made at a great price. I have really enjoyed carrying mine and have picked up some spares also.

Yes, I'm very tempted to pick up another small at $20. Just can't imagine a nicer American made knife for such a cheap price.

I have carried the vantage select for about 4 months now and I love it. I did clean up the edges of the scales with mt diamond file especially where the clip ends inside the pocket. It sits very low in the pocket(which I like) and flips out nicely. If I were to rank it 0-10 I would say it's an 8. Great buy and kudos to Buck for a fine US made knife.

I've had my select for a few months of EDC and haven't had to sharpen it yet. It's its cut through quite a few boxes, some light whitling and its still sharp enough to shave hair.
I couldn't be happier with it. The next one on my list is a Vantage Force Pro, though after having my select I'm really not feeling the need.

I absolutely love the Vantage line. Been carrying a Dymondwood Select for three months now, it's been absolutely fantastic. I've picked up a couple knives since the Vantage, but nothing's pushed the Vantage out of my pocket as an EDC yet.

Got my Buck Vantage Select Large in the mail today. A couple of strange things about it. First, it has some light, but noticable scratches through the Buck logo, and second the tang is stamped 2010, but the box is dated 2-1-11. I'm wondering if this knife had been tried out by someone before I got it. Regardless, the large Vantage Select is also a nice knife. A little heavier than I'm used to, but I really like the design. The blade on this one is off-centered, but not too bad (it doesn't touch the side). Locks up fine. Overall I like this knife, but I'll probably use it as a work knife, and keep the smaller Vantage for my EDC. Still recommend the Vantage Selects. Very nice for the money. I paid something like $23 with shipping on this one.

The Vantage Selects are some pretty impressive knives for the money I don't know if I've ever handled one that had a significant amount of blade play they also have Buck's great warrenty which is also a big plus IMO.
