Since I now have both of the Vantage Select models from WW, what are the differences with the AVID & PRO models and do they look different?
Thanks

So you have the Dymondwood and the paperstone handled versions? What about the "glass reinforced nylon" handle?
The Avid has the Dymondwood handle along with 13C26 Sandvik steel, the Pro model has the G10 handles and S30V steel.
Love 'em all...the only one I don't have is the paperstone.
Cheers,
Russ

Different blade steel for starters, the Selects are 420HC, Avid's 13C26 Sanvick and Pro's S30V.

The Wal Mart knives are handled with Paperstone and Charcoal Dymondwood, while most Avids are Charcoal or Cherry Dymondwood and Pro's are black G10.

The Paridigm is a Vantage and its Avid has Blue Micarta scales. The Vantages are all real cool. I prefer the Avids, you get upgraded steal and a nice handle material, still at a reasonable price. I have several. Surprisingly enough I just picked up a 341 Vantage Avid Charcole Diamond. Its the smaller Vantage and I like it because it fits so well in pocket. You dont even realize its there.

Does anybody still have the issue of off center blades with the vantages? The 341 was off to the right side a little, not quite rubbing but close. I tightened the blade screw but it makes it hard to open. Does any body have this issue and what can be done.

The Paridigm is a Vantage

They seem to have come from the same gene pool at least. First cousins maybe?

Bear Claw,
Just refering to your post and saying that there are other handle options an some of the other Vantage models...

This is just a long-shot guess, but maybe he means the Paradigm is a Vantage.

:)

Yea,I ran into the same problem. The first one was so far off that it scraped.I took it back and exchanged it,and the one I have now is off enough to notice, but doesnt scrape.I dont know how to fix it.

I still don't understand what you are saying here. "The Paridigm is a Vantage".

Really, You can't understand what I am saying. Here it goes

The Paradigm(spelled correctly this time, My mistake, I hope that wasn't what was holding you up) Is a Vantage( same handle, same blade.) The Paradime is an Automatic version of the Vantage. Does that clear things up just a little for you.

Ok, that clears up your thinking on it. I prefer to think of them as two different knives that share a common shape.

They are actually different models (names and numbers), but anyway, the paradigm is assisted opening, and has a bolster lock... Not a liner lock. (Also the pro model comes in blue G-10, the Avid model is brown micarta.) ;)
The paradigm is also darn near double the cost of the Vantage.
How quickly these threads derail :D

Anyway Mitch, BCCL pretty much summed it up! :D

I have several different models, and they are all great. I think I actually prefer the Avid models. I am really liking the sandvik steel, and the price point! ;)

Sorry Matt, gotta respectfully disagree. No parallel between the Vantage and the Paradigm in my view. Two totally different knives, even though the silhouette is nearly identical(that being said I can see why you would make that conclusion). ASAP assisted opening differentiates itself from other AO's and gaps the one-handed openers. The unique lock of the Paradigm goes that much farther to differentiate itself.

The Paradigm Pro has Black and Blue G10 handles and the Avid has Black Micarta. The Vantage Pro has Black G10 handles and the Avid has Charcoal Dymondwood. I have all four of those models laid out together and there is a lot of difference in their appearance, none resemble the others other than in their shape. Given the other major differences, I can see why the Paradigm and the Vantage are two distinctly different knife models.

Sorry for the semi-fuzzy picture, taken indoors hand held in poor light. Top two are Pro's, bottom two Avids.

You guys are amazing, You can argue but look at the knives, yes the paradigm has a few extra screws and springs but the blades are the same with the exception of a hole in the vantage. The shape of the handles are identical. The Paradigm has a different locking system, yes, but all the paradigm is, is a Vantage with extras. And to EEE how do you know you cant interchange the blades. Have you tried, if not you dont know, if you have than you think the same way I do, because you tried... Put any model # on it you want, you can dress up a monkey but its still a monkey...

Not getting PISSY , I think its comical. The similarities of the two are plane as day. I think because people are passionate about BUCK Knives they debate superflous aspects just to have conversation. Ask your wife if she thinks both knives are the same, without showing her the tech. differences and see what she says. but I dont take things personnaly everybody has opinions and You won't always agree with me and vice versa. If you get upset over internet conversation you probably should be in the gym relieving stress with exercise...

Oh, I totally agree that they are SIMILAR in appearance, that's why I posted the pictures of the three "cousins". They all show similar designs. I just disagree that the Paradigm is a Vantage, that's all. No offense intended, but if you took some, Oh well.
