2 days ago I received Bud Nealy knife same as on this pic. taken from
arizonacustomknives

which I bought from Hawkman. This knife is the dullest knife I've
ever bought, cannot cut anything except a butter. So the question:
is it typical to Bud's knives or my knife is exception?

I've got the small Kwaito and mini Wortac. Both came hair-shaving sharp out of the box and continue to serve me well after over 6 months of ownership.

I'm not completely sure of your motive here, but the appropriate approach to your problem would have been to email Bud and explain your problem.

That you bought the knife from someone other than Bud himself or one of the leading dealers, prevents your knowing anything about the history of the knife or what it may have been used for before you got it.

I'm not completely sure of your motive here

My motive very simple -to get information. I like mr.Nealy's knives look, but never touched any of them. According the seller the knife
is new and unused and it's looking as new and unused, but dull.

I am sure Bud would be glad to take care of the problem, but first he has to know about it.

The first two customs I ever owned were Nealys...Both were very very sharp..

I have one Nealy, a Pesh Kabz. Very, very sharp.
It sounds like your problem is with the person that sold it to you.
I don't think it's trolling to post this here. If it's true, a head's up is fair.
But I understand Jerry's concern. He has a very legitimate concern.
Bud Nealy is a first rate maker. I don't believe a dull knife would leave his shop.
It looks like a real beauty too. maybe Bud will sharpen it for you. But I don't think he is obliged to do so.

If you didn't like the condition of the knife, then you should have contacted Hawkman first. Sometimes, knife conditions are subjective. Is Hawkman a forumite?

Thanks to all. I didn't intend hurt Mr. Nealy and his work. But I've seen in past reports about similar problems with other makers, so I tryed to clear situation.

Yes- Hawkman is forumite, I sent him e-mail about receiving the knife and it's condition.

I've bought several of Bud's knives and they've all cut great. I had a problem with the handle on one of them quite a while after it was bought and Bud fixed it for free no questions asked. The quality of his knives and his service have been consistently great. The suggestions given above were good. It may have been the fault of one of the knives previous owners. You can also contact Mr. Nealy who is a really nice guy.

I have purchased a number of knives direct from makers and on the secondary market that were not what I considered 'sharp enough'. So I did something about it myself.

It would never occur to me to complain publically about a knives sharpness if I bought it from someone other than the maker.

I have had the pleasure of examing many of Bud's knives up close at several shows, and never came away with the impression that his knives were not 'sharp'. Rather, they all seemed very well made, functional. and were priced more than fairly. They are not, however, my 'style', but that is not a critique of his knife making skills. To the contrary in fact, I have been sorely tempted to buy several Nealy knives even though they were not exactly to my taste, their quality is always evident.

Send the knife to Bud for a touchup, or sharpen the dang thang yourself. Complaining about a second hand item here just makes Mr. Nealy and You look bad. Bud Nealy has a fine reputation in the knife community. If you don't think one of your Nealy knives is sharp enough, I am sure Bud would like to hear about it and will be happy to fix the problem for you.

Okay, I think Ig's been browbeaten enough, don't you? He said he meant no harm, so no need to gang tackle him.

This is Bud Nealy's email address:

budnealy@ptd.net

Bud is a friend and a gentleman. I'm sure that he, or his assistant Bob Mazur will be able to take care of your knife if you don't feel qualified to do so yourself.
