Okay coming out of the closet, if you could take a
blade shape, a handle, and a lock off of any production
folder, and roll em into one, what would it be?
Give me some good ones.

a spyderco endura blade, with an emerson wave opening system and
a benchmade axis lock, with a full carbon fiber handle.

Hey there "Dej" I primarily wanted to say welcome to the forums, lotsa terrific folks here, and more knowledge on these pages than a single person could assimilate in a lifetime of study.

As to your question, it's kind of a tough one for sure. I'll have to ponder it awhile and get back here. (I really like Rescue and extrication knives, so I'm sure my "dream knife" would be rather interesting) and incorporate: a glass breaker, O2 wrench, safety blade, spearpoint blade, something to do light prying with. and it would be man portable. (hey, I'm just dreamin' here, don't ask me how the hell it would be designed):D

My first try would be a....

Lum Chinese Framelock
Polished Ti scales w/graphics; Green anodized Ti back spacers
Phosphor Bronze washers
14 mm Spyderhole
SS Raindrop Damsacus Blade
Beadblast Ti clip
Calfskin slip sheath to carry it when not clipped

I would call it the Lum Spydereeve

I definitely think that a large plain Sebenza in a auto configuration would make me extremely happy ! :D

No flippers though. ;)

Either:

A Mayo TNT with the Ken Onion 'Speed-Safe' mechanisim and a flipper.

Or:

Spyderco Military blade in S90V with a Spyderhole and a 'Wave' in a standard Military handle with Compression Lock. Might as well have desert, or OD, or ??? G-10 as an option instead of just black!

Welcome Dej,

Your dream knife is very close to mine.

Start with the Axis AFCK. Give it the blade from the 710 (more belly with some recurve) and a 14.5 mm Sydie hole. D2 or M2, doesn't matter.
Add an Emerson wave. Change the scales to Ti (anodized green) w/ checkered G-10 inserts. Phosphor bronze washers and green Ti stand-offs.
My ultimate EDC.
:D

Well, my idea folder would be just basically a stock Benchmade 710 heavily breathed on;

stock 710 blade shape with a full flat grind, 420V, mirror polished and coated with boron carbide

stock frame with gold anodized Ti liners

carbon fiber scales

gold anodized hardware and clip (tip-up)

I would pay a pretty penny for such a beauty

:D

Either:

a) a Kershaw Boa with GIN-1 or VG-10 steel; or
b) a Wortac with a Benchmade oval hole, Axis lock, and more stippled scales similar to the CRKT Companion, also in VG-10 or GIN-1 steel.

Emerson Commander with an Axis lock. The handle and the blade are fine with me as-is.

Would like to see G-10 handles with inlays on the Spyderco Vesuvius like the prototypes had. Great looking knife.

..and a recurve on the large Sebenza:cool:

Silly, I know, but I'd like an automatic SAK, just for the novelty of it. The cross logo on the side would have to be the release.

Since I'm in a delusional dream state, how about a Camillus Cuda MAXX with the Speed Safe spring assist...actually since I'm really dreaming here let's make it a full auto conversion with that new-fangled S30V super steel.

An Emerson Super Commander with...

Blade of 3/16th BG-42, Zero ground, .072 Ti liners, full length Ti spacer, Ti bolsters, black micarta scales and the Spyderco Gunting style compression lock.

OR same blade as above in a Ti Framelock design!

Of course, when I wake up from my dream, I'll realize just how much this puppy would cost and decide to keep the Commanders I've already got and be satisfied.

The other "dream knife" isn't really a knife, and part of the dream would be that it was legal to carry.

Sword cane with heavily engraved sterling silver "ball" and a 35" by 1" 5160 diamond cross section rapier blade. It also has other featurs that I'd rather not reveal. They're my "invention" and if someone's going to ever make money off of them, I want it to be ME!

This dreamin' stuff is FUN!
:D

Sifu blade, AFCK handle, Axis lock, Wave, hidden release DA, maybe a flipper too.

CF or G-10 scales. 420V or Damascus blade.

Make it in 3.5", 4", 5.5", & 7" models.

This sounds like fun!

I want to cross a Benchmade 710 with a DDR Mini-Maxx. Take that beautiful recurve blade, but in Talonite, add the cross-guards/flippers from the Mini-Maxx, and mount it in the Mini-Maxx's titanium handle with frame lock. Mount the clip for tip-up carry, which should allow the top guard to act like a "Wave" on the draw. Embellish with anodizing, heavy on the blue, and you have my dream folder.

Gimme a BG-42 Buck/Strider tanto blade with the primary edge ground thin enough to take a decent edge, dual thumbstuds, and a wave. All that in a Ti Framelock the same pattern as the original SB1.
