Ordered a Bulldog, 4 1/8" closed with carbon blades and stag scales
it's shape is much like the case seahorse, hopefully it will be here
before I head to Spain next week, will post some images on it's arrival :)

Anyone have one of these folders? I hear tell that the two smaller blades
can often have a little blade play in them, is there a fix for that or is it
just something you have to live with???

slip slidin' away....;)

Here's one of the 4 1/8", and a small one too. Thor and the Seductress. Notice the small blade position is reversed. Neither of these have blade play. I look for the one that is in between these in size, but havent found it yet. I think both of these are carbon blades. The little one has harder snap. Nice Wharnies.

Thanks, yes the one on the left is like what is enroute, when the blades are closed
do the tangs stick up much?
and last question, are they blades ground thin for good slicing?
really hate buying without being able to handle the knife...
G2

No, the tangs do not stick up any more than normal, and yes, the blades are what I would consider thin. I have not used or sharpened these though, or done any slicing.

thanks, that's good to know, hopefully it may even arrive tomorrow! with any luck,
G2

Nothing like getting a new knife just before a holiday or a trip:thumbup::thumbup:

Well folks, she has arrived, what a beauty, only snag is the blade play of the
main blade, quite a bit of side to side that I'll have to get use to, the smaller
blades were better, all three needed sharpening, but not a problem.

See if you can detect what is different with this knife from a spanking brand new one :)

I had a Case one, but a far smaller knife, this one is great, a side from that blade play...
and thawk, you're right the blades are ground fairly thin for cutting, will be taking this
one along with me to Spain next week too :)
G2

I have one just like it Gary. Nice knives. You'll like it a lot. It will out cut the Case in the same style many times over however it will likely need sharpened up when it arrives if its like mine was.

The little take apart knife Bulldog sells is quite nice also. I have one of those and its a great little user. One of my all time favorite slippies actually.

Thanks and yes, all three blades sharpened up very nicely, hair poppin' sharp she be now!

Did you notice the difference between my knife and yours yet? not talking about the
stag but...something else.

G2

Nope, but a good guess just the same,
John may have hit on it, not sure but he is a clever fella,

It's one of the small blades, had a very pronouced point on it's spine
a whittling blade, but when you hold the knife with the main blade
open, that top section would hit my grip, so, being the grinding fool
that I am, I carefully made it into a smooth ended wharncliff blade
shape and also ground down the kick just a little bit so it matches up
evenly with the pen blade, now it's a lot more comfortable to grip
when having the main blade open. :)

Got her leathered up tonight, just before I leave on Wednesday for Spain!

Snaps into place nice and secure,

I showed the folder off to the 'knife guys' at work today, they
all oohhhed and aaaahhhed at her looks, you don't see this type of knife around here...:)
G2

OMG that's very nice combo Mr. Gary. I always amazed by your leatherworks. I'll try to PM or e-mail you. Cheers!

Frids

Thanks Frids, PM isn't available to us lowly registered users,

It's very handy I think, less chance of rusting there than inside your pocket
also no lint buildup either.

They are very well built little folders and a lot of bang for the buck. That will be a great little companion with you. Great sheath also!

I have the 3 7/8" version of that knife with bonestag handles. The blades are tight, and have great action. However, I have been disappointed with it as a whittler because the small blades are so thin they will actually bend while whittling to the point they rub when closing the knife. Needless to say, it will take a great edge, but the give in the blades is unnerving to say the least. Alan

Beautiful knife and even nicer sheath. You do great work.

What is the blade steel? This site I saw just listed "stainless". I'm considering a Queen or Bulldog for my next traditional folder.
