As my late fathers b-day approaches, I got to thinking about his recent passing(jan. 14) and some of his beloved items that my family and I sent with him. I had a few selfish 2nd thoughts but decided to dress him with his new esee3 that I had just gotten him this xmas. I remember how thrilled he was and how happy that made me. His izula I have put away for my son when he gets older. Anyway I was wondering what knife, if any you guys and girls may wish to be laid to rest with? I'm still undecided but leaning towards my old jack knife and possibly my 4. I'm of the mind to take things that may be needed on the other side. The rest shall be divided to my son, family and friends

Nothing here either. I have written instructions to be cremated, and I'd like some of my ashes put into 100 shotshells and to have my friends shoot a round of sporting clays with me.

I'm still young and stupid but I'm leaning toward being cremated. People have their own opinions and that's fine, but I'd rather my family spend that money on something in my memory than an overpriced metal or wood box and the involved arrangements. Some folks don't like the idea of cremation and that's fine. I don't like the idea of embalming, make up and being buried in the dirt.

Burial and death are very personal things. I'd rather have my kids or grandkids have my knife and remember it as Dad's or Grandpa's Knife. I sure won't need it.

Without getting in to a religious debate, those tools aren't going to help me after I cross over.

cremation, with instructions for my ashes to be broadcast in the pasture -- I've spread plenty of fertilizer throughout my life, I want to be spread as fertilizer after I'm gone.

As far as ceremony goes I am not one for our societal norms surrounding burial. Because often funerals are for those who haven't died, rather than for those that have.

However, I respect the idea of a burial blade. It's great how you passed some blades on.

As for me bury me naked as the day I was born, with no chemicals, in the mountains, and let me return to the earth. Sadly we live in a "free" country where I can't do that.

I'm going into the next world naked and totally devoid of gear.
Why do you think I'm so intent on getting some primitive skills under my belt (that I won't be wearing)? :p

My children and grand-children will need them more than me. Knowing my eldest son, he may put something in with me (just in case).

I respect all your answers and have no problem with cremation. Dad was a decorated veteran and service officer for the VA as well as a member of a vets motorcycle club and he deserved the honor with which he was buried. As for placing items with him its a family tradition. There are a lot more of his knives now in my possession as well. Didn't mean for this to be a debate as to how things will be handled after death, just asking if there is a special blade that you would want with you.that's all.

I plan on passing everything down. Most to my kids (if/when I have some), if not my nephews kids/nephew. They will last a lot longer then me, no need for me to have them.

Everything on this forum is a debate. :D

No disrespect was meant by any of the members here. Again, burial and death are a thing of tradition and personal preference that are as varied as the people here.

I'm too young to consider it but... I wanna be cremated. No sense wasting land just to have my corpus eaten up by the wormies....
