I know that many of you out there have one of these little Arc wonders. Because of this, I wanted to know if any of you had actually tested the light to see the length of time before the AAA battery went dead.

Has anyone tried this test? How long did your battery last before it went out and required that you replace it?

Thanks in advance.:D

Hi KBR,

nothing scientific, but I have beside my keyboard an Duracell Ultra AAA cell that only has .860 Volts left in it and the Arc AA 1 LED still burns on it in super low mode but enough to be able to read in pitch darkness.

I have had my AAA Arc light on for about 9 hours to get at that stage and that was AFTER the voltage had dropped to 1.002 Volts and was so low that the 'yellow' power strip on the Duracell didn't even register anything anymore.
I at least got 4 hours full power from the fresh battery and then it slowly started to shine a little less.
In total it burned about 16 hours from fresh battery with 1.649 Volts inside to .860 Volts.

The Arc AAA light is a real battery saver, I just selected a bunch of AAA Duracells that I threw in the 'spend batteries' box because they didn't power my PDA anymore and they read 1.245 Volts and when put in the AAA Arc they still give off a lot of light.

Hope this helps a bit, best Scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera

I appreciate the feedback, Bagheera. I've never owned one of these little lights but recently put in an order for a white one and was curious of what kind of service to expect from it. I've read many reviews but I guess that I am one of those that can never get enough info to ease my curiousity.

I plan on replacing my white Photon, with that new white Arc, on my keychain. The Photon works good, but from all I hear the Arc AAA is better.

Thanks again for the info and hope that you are doing well out there in Holland.

That's mostly true. If you use your keyring flashlight a lot, the Arc is better. But it's also a little bigger. On my POV keyring, I kept the Photon II. I rarely, if ever, use the light so I like the smaller size. On my company car, I have the Arc. At work I use the light often enough to justify the larger light. As far as battery life goes, I bought my Arc late last year. I went on a 3 week vacation in mid-March so I put a new battery in even though the original was still OK. I used the Arc a lot on my vacation and still have that battery in it. I have no idea how many hours I've used the light for but I think you'll be happy with your new light.

Frank and John, thanks for the info. I'll be sure to check it out.

Well, all this good info about the Arc light has pretty much convinced me to buy one, but I can't find any retail store to buy one at. What is the best place to order one from?

Ebay. I just snagged one for $22 ($20 + $2sh).

Best price I'd found lately. All others were closer to $25+SH.

Carry both. Leave the Photon on the keyring, and carry the ARC with a Victorinox Classic (or similar sized knife) hooked together in your pocket.

im2smrt4u, I found the best price at Texas Tactical Supply, under LED lights.

They have them for $19.99. Plus $4 for shipping, and tax if you live in Texas. My total came out to only $25.44 . PLUS, from what I hear, their shipping time is excellent. One of our fellow BF members ordered one on July 5th and received it on the 9th which is not bad considering that they were ordering from California!!;)

thatmguy, I've been thinking about keeping my white Photon II on my keychain, as well as hooking on the Arc. In my line of work, the Arc would come in real handy, while at the same time, the Photon is convenient because of its' easy on/off button. I guess that I'll just see what happens.;)

Not too many deals to be found on eBay right now. I think I'll try that Texas Tactical supply. I'd be willing to pay a couple bucks more to order from a store anyway...

Another perk about ordering from Texas Tactical is that I hear that they have the 3.1 version. This is the latest model of the Arclight AAA.:D

Yes, they are light output measurements. I found that link over at CPFs. It is a chart created by one of the members who did his own testing. Those guys over there are serious! You could find out more about it from them.

Hi, I made the .xls file and the numbers represents a reading on my G. E. Light meter. It is very close to 1000's of mcd, or in other words a light that was 16 on my chart should be very near 16,000mcd. I didn't want to label the brightness levels because my light meter isn’t calibrated perfectly, but all the light I tested were measured the same way. I take the readings by using a digital camera aimed at the meter and have it take a shot at 15 min intervals. I also have that same file converted to HTML at

Hope this helps
