Have a look:

Bushcraft-Prototype01.jpg

This one is made from O1 - so the look is going to be a little different (regarding the as-forged flats)...and I left off the thumbramp on this prototype...

But the general shape/size/look will be the same. Overall length is 8.5" and the weight is a nice 4.9 oz.

Also, I set the angle of the grind to 15 degrees....which, if you think about it, is about what everybody sharpens their knife to anyway. So, you're getting the same sharpening angle as a microbevel, but the strength of a scandi grind.

A few more pics to look at:

Here's an "in-the-hand" pic:

And one in reverse grip. I really like how this turned out...feels great. Very easy to pommel.

And here's MY sheath (the rest of you get leather) :D

This is just for carrying around in my bag until the leather sheaths are done. I do plan on offering kydex...but I much prefer this knife in leather.

Now that I have a prototype ready...time to call the leather guy.

Thanks for looking!

An attractive knife at an attractive price. There will be a lot of happy people soon.
It also makes me wish I had ordered some natural micarta with my supply order.

The as-forged with the deeper scandi make the knife look great. Great handle profile as well. I'm sure everyone is going to be thrilled with it!

So you will be providing kydex as an option? The reason I specified no sheath was because I wanted a kydex sheath. I guess when they are done and I'm ready to pay we can talk about getting a kydex sheath for it. I think it looks great, plus it will be easily lashed to the outside of a pack.

Yea I already mailed Dan about it. Hes offering kydex with or without teklok.

Looks great, I can't wait to get mine.

The best part of this one - was that it went exactly as I expected and was easy to finish out. I'm relieved, because that means better production time for me.

briangandrews - if you want it...it's yours! I will gladly make you one of 3V, however. I do still have another prototype to make.

Dan, I am with Snow on this regarding the sheath. I originally said "no" because if it was going to be leather, then I wanted a very specific design. BUT, if you are offering it with kydex too, then I would take the kydex one without a Tek-Lok (and one with many rivets like the one above please).

Just let me know when the time comes. Hopefully this does not all become unnecessarily painful to coordinate. And if it does, I would be happy to volunteer to help out in any way that I can.

Chris

Lookin' good.
The scales seem thin. Is that because the 01 is thicker than the 3V will be (or maybe I just like unusually fat handles)?

It's the trick photography...:D

See the thickness at the butt? that's how thick it is in the middle. The handle is a "tall oval" in cross-section. It definitely fills the hand, without being too much.

Also should note - that the tang on this one is drilled a little - to put the balance right behind the first finger. It felt awkward otherwise. More work for me, but not really that much...maybe 2-3 minutes per knife.

I edited the first post to include the weight = 4.9 oz.
5.9 oz with the kydex sheath.

Dan

Suddenly I am wanting one in natural micarta as well as the green I already ordered! :D

I like it!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I will be ordering kydex for mine when you put that option up.
