Somebody from above must be smiling down on me because I am among the first of folks to get mine.
And since I know other reviews will be forthcoming here, I have decided to review one or two aspects of this knife so as to leave enough fodder for the other folks.
My knife came with 1/4" natural micarta slabs. Some measurements are below:
Blade thickness just in front of the handle-- .135"
Thickest part of the handles-- .675" (at the back of the front bolt)
Thinnest part of the handles-- .55" (just in front of the back bolt)
Balance-- just in front of the halfway point of the front bolt
So as a "bushcraft" knife, I decided to do a little something with wood.
Namely, I wanted to see how well she would shave some curls and then see if I could start a little fire with my firesteel, Behold:
The curls you see are all paper thin. Using this knife to do this was as close to effortless as I have ever seen. The only thing is that these curls were so thin and so light, static electricity was holding them to the knife. Still, will these take a spark?
Yep, especially if you use those thumb notches. I didn't have someone available to take a pic of the firesteel spark shower, but trust me-- when it rains, it pours big time!!! And finally, two pics to let you all see for yourselves whatcha got comin'.
Merry Christmas everyone. Thanks for a real winner, Dan!
