Received this morning, the "Bushi" by Bailey Bradshaw. It has an integral frame (like the Lochsa) made of hardened stainless steel. The blade is S30V, handrubbed. Self lock mechanism.
I'm impressed by the quality of this knife. Ergonomy, F&F, edge and action are all excelent. The grooves on the handle look cool IMO and allow for a good grip.
I asked Bailey to make a regular grind on this one instead of the katana-tip grind. The wait was very short and it was a pleasure dealing with him
The edge has 3" and the OAL is 7".

Very nice knife and a very solid value. Gotta get me one of these.

Hey Flava,

I like it a lot, congrats! Bailey does some very nice (and wide-ranging) work, IMHO ....

If I may ask, what are the scales made of? BTW, from the pics it would look more like a liner-lock than a frame-lock.... maybe it has very beefy liners which are then covered/hidden? Could you post a pic of the lock-up?

Thats just awesome!!!

The handle is One piece of material.

No liners, its a self lock made famous by Scott Sawby, an internal lock.

Incredible Lock Mechanism, Incredible Knife.

Yep, that summs it up. :) It's a self lock, one of the most elegant locks IMO. I quote Bailey for explaining how the lock works:

The lock works similar in principal to a lockback. The difference is the lock is contained inside the pivot hole of the blade. The lock is therefore sealed from outside debris, and leaves the rest of the knife free of other working parts like springs and lockbars. The lock is disenguaged by pushing up on the tab at the bottom of the blade tang, then rotate closed. When opening the blade, it will stand high of the frame at the spine until it is 99% open, then falls into the lock faces. The forward face of the spine is the rear lock face, the forward lock face is on a boss on the pivot bushing. A coil spring and bearing inserted into the edge of the pivot provided the downward force that keeps the lock enguaged. The blade is only.001" thinner than the pivot bushing, so any debris has to be thinner than a human hair to get in. I have dropped my work knife in the fine sand we have here in East Texas, and the lock stayed completely free and clean. From all of my tests, the lock is just as strong as a lockback.

Great Score!!

I spent a little time with Scott a few years ago in Oregon and was priviledged to learn about this lock mechanism and fortunate enough to handle several of his custom pieces, all I can say is the Self Lock is off the Hook!

Slick to the extreme!

That knife has everything I like in a folder. Great proportions, beautiful fit and finish, and stunning good looks.

That really is one slick lock. I have one on a Bradshaw folding bowie and it really works well.

I like that Bushi!

Well, I have to admit that I did not really understand all that (probably my limited experience), apart from the fact that it's not a liner-lock, and I'm not certain if it is a framelock or something else:)...

Anyway, I like the looks of that beauty a lot, and I still think congrats are in order:)...
